While the dominance of Jund has been a specter over Modern recently, the power of combo decks continues to follow right behind. Two copies each of Birthing Pod and Scapeshift decks pushed their way into Grand Prix: Bilbao's Top 8, and a long-forgotten combo enabler, Gifts Ungiven, was the workhorse in yet another.

While Jund did make the final, piloted by the talents Lukas Jaklovsky, it was Mitchell Manders's tempo-based U/R/W decks with countermagic and quick ways to attack opponents to deck that won the day.
