Jose Francisco da Silva won Grand Prix Rio de Janeiro, but not how you might expect. He battled though the rounds and Top 8 to make it to the finals, but was greeted by his very good friend Artur Villela. How good of a friend? In order to lock Francisco da Silva as a Gold level pro he needed to win the Grand Prix, so Villela conceded to ensure that happened.
Make no mistake: Both players reached the pinnacle moment of the event through excellent play and well-crafted decks. While who would have won had they battled is a mystery we'll never solve, both decks are prime contenders in Standard today.
