As a finale to an epic tournament, Guillaume Matignon of France became the 2010 Magic: The Gathering World Champion. He defeated Guillaume Wafo-Tapa in the finals, taking the match 3-1, as well as defeating Paulo Vitor Damo da Rosa in the semi-finals in a straight 3 games. Matignon's win ties him with Brad "Fffreak" Nelson for the Player of the Year race. To determine a winner, they will play in a single match at the Magic Weekend in Paris. Also interesting is that Guillaume Matignon was the 2007 WOW TCG World Champion, and with this win becomes the first person to have been World Champion for both card games.
Slovak Republic (Robert Jurkovic, Ivan Floch, and Patrik Surab) took the title as the World Championship Team, defeating the Australian team (Jeremy Neeman, Ian Wood, and Adam Witton.)
The 2002 World Champion Carlos Ramao defeated Akira Asahara as the 2010 Magic Online World Champion.
After finishing 4th at Pro Tour San Juan, he finished 163rd at Worlds, and Andrea Giarola of Italy was named 2010 Pro Tour Rookie of the Year.
And of course the Hall of Fame grew by three more individuals, Gabriel Nassif, Brian Kibler, and Bram Snepvangers were inducted.
