Draft Recap (with commentary):
Pack 1, Pick 1:
My Pick:
Evil Twin seems to be a solid card. I haven’t had the chance to play with it before, so I’m not sure if it’s better than Grasp of Phantoms. At this point, I’m not necessarily committing to U/B, I can always splash it in a Blue or a Black deck.
Pack 1, Pick 2:
My Pick:
There aren’t any good Blue or Black cards here, so we’re just taking the best card and moving on.
Pack 1, Pick 3:
My Pick:
Pack 1, Pick 4:
My Pick:
W/B isn’t super-exciting, but I’m willing to draft it. Blue has mostly dried up, so I’m fine with splashing the Evil Twin.
Pack 1, Pick 5:
My Pick:
This is basically just in case Blue opens up. I think I’m definitely in White, but my second color is somewhat up for debate. I just know I want to be in Esper colors.
Pack 1, Pick 6:
My Pick:
Chapel Geist is making the deck no matter what, and it’s better than Moon Heron anyway.

Pack 2, Pick 1:
My Pick:
This is certainly a stacked pack. Champion of the Parish is quite good, but not quite as good as Fiend Hunter. I’m kind of sending horrible signals with this pack, but that can’t be helped.
Pack 2, Pick 2:
My Pick:
Pack 2, Pick 3:
My Pick:
Tribute to Hunger isn’t amazing, but I’m generally happy to play it.
Pack 2, Pick 4:
My Pick:
It’s tempting to pick up a Traveler's Amulet, but I don’t like taking it over real cards. Plus, this Rebuke is foil.
Pack 2, Pick 5:
My Pick:
Here I’m still not sure if I’m W/B or W/U. There’s a case to be made for Feeling of Dread, but I don’t think this draft is going in that direction.
Pack 2, Pick 6:
My Pick:
Skaab Goliath is only good in decks that have a ton of enablers, which this deck doesn’t so far. Even playing multiple Makeshift Maulers is sketchy, but it’s not as though there’s anything else in this pack I want.

My Pick:
I’m really not a fan of Smite the Monstrous, whereas Selfless Cathar is almost always good.

Pack 3, Pick 1:
My Pick:
It’s a shame we can’t play Charmbreaker Devils—the card is quite nutty—but I’m not complaining about opening Slayer of the Wicked.
Pack 3, Pick 2:
My Pick:
Trips Priests are pretty good, though they are going to look foolish against a deck with a ton of Humans.
Pack 3, Pick 3:
My Pick:
I’ve played with High Priest a lot now, and I think this is going to be a good deck for it. It has both a lot of creatures and a lot of removal.
Pack 3, Pick 4:
My Pick:
Pack 3, Pick 5:
My Pick:
I’m very tempted to pick up Voiceless Spirit, but I just can’t pass up cheap, quality removal.

This is about where I expect to pick up Traveler's Amulets and/or Shimmering Grotto. Around this point in the draft is when the real cards dry up.

This isn’t a terribly exciting deck, but it’s quite capable of handling most threats that could be thrown at it. I can see it being weak to a deck that doesn’t have a lot of non-Human creatures, but even then, it should have some game.
I ended up losing in the finals to G/W Humans with six million combat tricks, but I guess I can’t be too upset about it.
Hope you guys enjoyed the Draft, and feel free to check out my YouTube channel for more videos. By the time this goes up, I will have just started a new term at school, but I should still have a couple of weeks before things become really busy.
Until next time, may your opponents always draw blanks.
