Riding the Wind: Mu Yanling, Wind Rider in Commander

Hello happy Commander, Aetherdrift, flyer and Vee fans! I've got your kitchen table combo right over here! You wanna ride that wind and draw that card too?

Mu Yanling, Wind Rider

As you can see, this mono-Blue 2/4 costs four and rocks an ETB to make a 3/2 Vee with crew one and they all get flying while she's on the board. Yay! Then when a flyer deals that sweet damage draw that sweeter card, but just one. Note that's just any flyer, not just a Vee.

Let's start with muh mono-Blue brew!

Lands, Ramp, and Rocks

Sorry Vee fans, but we've got to first establish the mana needs are met. Cultivator's Caravan taps for any color of mana and then is a Vee too with crew 3 for a 5/5 vanilla one. The four-drop Blue Crystal Skull, Isu Spyglass will let you look at and then cast the top card of your library and drop lands if they are historic, so that's great in mono-Blue Vees like this one! It also taps for a Blue mana.

Raceway lands! Since we attacking in the air for damage to for our leader we can easily get max speed on these two lands. The rare taps for two colorless if at max speed and the uncommon one will tap to give our dork haste no mana needed, great with flyers or Vees we just dropped to trigger our Commander!

Let's turn to this two Vee pairs! Reef Roads usually ETBs tapped but can tap with two to sac this and make a 1/1 Pilot that can crew/mount with 2 extra power! Mech Hangar can tap for one of any color if it's a Pilot or Vee like our stuff or leader, and then taps with three to pilot a Vee this turn! Love this synergetic pair way much here!

Since we are likely losing many of our artifacts to sweepers and combat and such as well as some like Mind Stone, I wanted a recursive land, enter the colorless tapping legendary (historic) but taps with Blue for reloading your best artifact or Vehicle to the top of your library. I also tossed in Buried Ruin for an artifact to your hand. The non-legendary colorless tapping but also taps with two one Blue can bounce your Commander or other random dorks to your hand all up and down the block! Love it much here too.

Check out these three Urza lands! I have the Urzatron and Saga here too. Urza's Workshop will tap for a colorless for each Urza land you control, love it here to make that mana. The uncommon Urza's Cave will tap with three and a sac to ramp any land to the battlefield tapped not just basics and it's Urza's too! Urza's Factory taps with seven to make a 2/2 artifact dork for crewing, and I also tossed in dorks from lands for crewing Mirrex and Fountainport.

The Mycosynth Gardens taps for colorless, with a mana for Blue and then with X mana to copy your best artifact permanent as long as it's not token for its cost, and it doesn't end EOT. Sol Ring? Any Vee? Artifact dorks? Love it here much with my team! Faerie Conclave ETBs tapped and then taps with two to make a 2/1 flyer for the turn. It's here to do that and then trigger Mu Yanling! Or crew that Vee for a bigger punch. Ditto the Inkmoth and Blinkmoth Nexuses here for triggering and count as artifact dorks too.

Cool Vees to Build Around

Now let's turn to the good stuff of this brew! The seven-drop Vee has protection from cheap stuff, and then crew four a 10/10 body with an attack trigger to shoot your foe's for 5 so if blocked you'll still trigger your speed lands. The four-drop with flying to trigger Mu has a crew 3 for a 5/5 body and then ETBs and exiles a foe's graveyard and then you can drop a dork exiled this way onto the battlefield for free when this smashes face! Nasty here!

Now let's turn to Vees that, on arrival, make their crew! Thunderhawk Gunship makes 2 White 2/2 Astartes Warrior vigilance to crew it once per token. The three-drop flyer Night Scythe has crew 2 and makes a 2/2 Necron Warrior that's an artifact this time too. The five-drop 4/4 crew Enchanted Carriage without evasion one makes two 1/1 Mice on arrival. Make that crew!

Now a pair of rare 4/4 Vees are next! Rolling Hamsphere is first and it has an attack trigger to make a trio of 1/1 red Hamsters that pump its size when in play for a +1/+1 boost for each one, and then you'll shoot any target for their number from players to their stuff. Love that growing over time, and with the flying evasion from Mu? Recon Craft Theta costs four for crew two and base flying and then ETBs with a 0//0 Alien with a +1/+1 token and each time this swings? Proliferate!

Now let's turn to my favorite part of my brews, synergies and backup win cons outside of flying swinging over time in this case. Since we are running tons of Vees, let's toss in these three ways to crew them without tapping dorks! The two-drop common from the same set as our Commander replaces itself and then taps with two to saddle a Mount or crew a Vee! Then the legendary dork (historic) with flying and 3/3 size for four Blue mana will mana sink three to turn a non-creature dork into a Vee of with flying and then if it's not a Vee it's got a 1/1 size, and you can toss a +1/+1 counter on each three noncreatures like your Vees in your upkeep, Recon Ship proliferate? The uncommon two-drop Vee with 3/4 and flying and 3 crew will auto crew another if it's crewed. Love getting two for one crew there!

Anchor to Reality costs four and the you can sac any artifact or dork and tutor out a Vehicle to your battlefield, nasty strong here! It's doesn't say "nontoken" so you can sac that Mirrex dork too! Grab the Vee that's most needed! The five-drop 4/3 Vee Deluxe Dragster has evasion and it cannot be blocked save by other Vees, has 2 crew. When it smashes face? You can cast one of their spells for free without casting it!

The Vee has a three-cost and flying and then power equal to your artifact cost, and here with our Vees and such that's a player killer and then crew 2 to smash fast! The dork has a six-cost, your other artifact dorks get flying just like the Vees from Mu Yanling, and then has flying too on a 4/4 size and then when it ETBs you can give each artifact dork you control size 4/4 this turn and with flying? Nasty!

Next, I want ways to make flyers of a 1/1 size ideally as artifacts too to trigger Mu Yanlings card draw and other stuff or tap and crew bigger stuff. Enter Sai, Master Thopterist and Efficient Construction. The three-drop legendary dork with a 1/4 body has a cast trigger for your artifacts to make a 1/1 Thopter with flying. Then you can sac to artifacts and spend two mana here to draw a card. Then the four-drop enchantment turns the costs into flyer Thopters too! Good pair here all up and down the block!

These two three-drop Blue artifacts are next! The Vee turns your 2nd card drawn each turn into a 1/1 Thopter to make flying and kill or crew, and I also tossed in the Faerie making one to called Mischievous Mystic. It crews for 2 with a 4/4 flying body! The three-drop non-Vee will scry 2 on arrival and then when another medium size or larger artifact ETBs? Make a free Construct player killer with size equal to your artifact count!

Mechanized Production will enchant your artifact, and make a copy in your upkeep great with Vees or Mana Rocks here. Or you can make copies of Solemn Simulacrum! Then you can win if you control 8 or more with that title, so that's great with tokens you are making like Thopters. And Unwinding Clock will untap them all in each player's untap step! Love it much here for untapping your mana rocks and Vees and many of your dorks too for that matter!

Mu Yanling, Sky Dancer costs three for a two loyalty with +2 to drop flying and power from a foe and then swing over them. Or she can -3 to make a 4/4 Elemental Bird here! Love it here way much! Then Weatherlight costs four for a crew three and a 4/5 flying size! It's got a combat damage trigger just like Mu Yangling for digging five and revealing and drawing a historic card here! Again, with that historic stuff here? Love it much!

Now let's turn to on theme answers starting with counters! The five-cost counters any spell and then makes you a number of Thopter dorks equal to its cost! The three-cost charm will counter, draw you two or steal a cheap thing. The four-cost Command will make a tapped Powerstone, scry and draw, reduce all dorks' power or make that game killer token again.

Now let's turn to Vee removal! The five-cost rare one with 5/5 size and crew 3 will steal a dork on arrival and it cannot attack or block either, great Commander removal by not killing it and sending it to their Command Zone. The five-drop mythic will ETB and attack and Lightning Bolt something and then flies with a 6/5 size and crew three. The four-drop with 5/5 and menace will shoot something equal to your Vee count times two!

Let's finish with mass bounce to set them back! Desynchronization will bounce all nonlands that ain't historic, and here? That's the vast majority of our stuff! Then Aetherize will bounce all attackers only, so if you swung all out it'll hurt ya more.

Card Draw

Thopter Spy Network costs four and makes a 1/1 in our upkeep and then when artifact stuff smashes face draw that card! The Indomitable 6/6 size and trample and crew 3 will turn creature damage into cards drawn ditto Bident of Thassa. The two-drop Vee The Omenkeel with 3/3 and crew one will turn Vee damage into them exiling that much damage and then you can play them, but you'll need that mana. You can drop their lands and use the Caravan and Fellwar Stone here for their stuff.

Now let's turn to ETB card draw from artifacts! The five-drop common from this set with a 3/2 body and then flying has a crew of three. It ETBs and draws you two, and the 2/2 affinity for artifacts does too on a 7 cost with flying too! Then the four-drop uncommon Vee has 4/4 size and crew 3 and toxic 2 too and then ETBs and draws you card so it's free! Note infect with the Mirrex and Inkmoth Nexus and then proliferate of the Recon Ship and I added Karn's Bastion too.

Let's finish with this planeswalker duo and card draw classic Vee! The five-drop Core Set one has 5 loyalty and a +1 to make a 1/1 Thopter! You can spend 0 to draw if you have metal craft. Then then four-drop four loyalty version of him will make your first activated ability of an artifact cost 2 less small here. Then you can +1 him to draw two and discard one if it's an artifact, two if not. Then you can -2 him to turn an artifact into a dork with 4/4 size or activate a Vee! Then the two-drop Vee is last! It arrives with a trio of charge counters and you can tap it with two to draw and pull one off. Then when the last one is pulled make a 1/1 Pilot to crew it's 4/4 with crew 3.

There we go! I have 37 lands and modal spells and then the awesome synergy of Vees. You could toss in many more! Do I have enough dorks and token makers and free stuff to crew them? You could add in Mindlink Mech or the three allowed Game Changer of Ancient Tomb and The One Ring and Cyclonic Rift but I like this as is, level 2 Core deck! What are your thoughts?
