Hello MTG fans! I hope your day is going super mega well! Today I am looking at the Standard legal but mythic only Big Score (BIG) best of for casual play like Commander, other Highlander and multiplayer formats, Five Color, Pauper and Peasant (not here obviously) and Type Four. Sure, there may not be many, but due to the fact that they have a high rarity, they'll be getting their own list due to their power!

#18. Oltec Matterweaver
Let's kick this thing off with a mono-White dork that costs three for a blocking 2/4. It has a cast dork trigger on a dork, so it synergizes with itself. Many pro-creature cards aren't creatures to give your deck tension, but not this. Then your choices are to make a 1/1 colorless Gnome 1/1 artifact dork or a copy of an artifact token you control, like Clues, Food, Treasures or dorks. It's great in creature heavy builds like Aggro, Tokens, Hate Bears, Artifacts, Midrange, and more. Midrange with cards like Karmic Guide, Mulldrifter and Eternal Witness in this and adjacent colors are key. Note this is cast, so if countered, it'll still resolve.
#17. Simulacrum Synthesizer
This three-drop mono-Blue artifact is next! When it ETBs you get a free scry 2 for card selection, which you are in the color to flicker. When another artifact with a decent or bigger cost arrives, you'll make a free win-con token of the artifact Construct equal to your artifact count also to copy with the above lady. Free scry, and free token makers! Good stuff, that's why this fun thing is here!
#16. Hostile Investigator
Let's continue around the color wheel with this on-curve 4/3 four-drop in Black. When it ETBs, a target foe (crime) discards a card. Then he is a discard trigger to investigate to spend two mana to draw. But just once per turn. This works on all players, you too, so if you cycle or channel a card, it counts as well. A Ravenous Rats and a Megrim on legs is nasty, hence it being here, but just one foe, means it's less powerful than forcing everyone to discard, like Tinybones Joins Up, or Liliana's Specter. (He's also an outlaw). Although here, it's on a beater with four power. Love him!
#15. Worldwalker Helm
Sorry Red fans, next is another Blue card, but you won't be sad with higher hitting stuff. Another three-drop mono-Blue artifact is next, this time if you would create an artifact token, you'll add a free Map to the battlefield for exploring fun time! Then tap this with two mana to make a copy of a target artifact token just like the dork above, but you can copy the Map minimum, or other things. This loves the heavy usage of artifact tokens like dorks or Blood or Junk. It's so synergically awesome!
#14. Harvester of Misery
Back to Black! This five-drop 5/4 Spirit on curve with evasion (menace) is next! It has a brilliant ETB ability to Infest all stuff, yours too, to kill smaller stuff, no targets and gets around indestructible! Or you can spend two to channel it and give one dork -2/-2 instead! It's great in midrange as an ETB removal dork, reanimation to discard, kill, and recur, or just generally from Cube to Five Color. Since most critter tokens are 2 or fewer toughness, you can sweep them all in one fell swoop! It's Spirit-tastic, and the highest charting mono-Black card on our list!
#13. Territory Forge
I got you Red fans! This five-cost artifact is next in mono-red! It also has an ETB, exile a land or artifact, like your foes in the removal sense. Then this becomes a copy of that card. So, you can exile an opposing Gaea's Cradle or Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx or Cabal Coffers and make this a copy and tap for a ton of mana right now! Or you can steal their Maze or Ith or just a mana-rock like Sol Ring or card flow like Esper Sentinel or Mind's Eye. Note this has to be cast to work, but with returning it to your hand instead of your battlefield, I like this in artifact recursion to kill, and recur, ideally after copying a Mindslaver or Memory Jar. Since it exiles, that cannot be brought back. Love this removal thang so much! It's like a two mana more Pillage that exiles and then gives you a copy! Run this thang all up and down!
#12. Bristlebud Farmer
This four-drop 5/5 trample Green Plant is next! All of the colors are now here! This has an ETB ability too, this time to bring a pair of Food tokens to the party. Then when this swings you can trade a Food for milling three and putting a permanent from them to your hand. Note on curve 5/5 beater for that swinging. It has synergy with lots of good stuff! Its power is 4+ for power-based decks, it's in the color of Food matters in Green, it mills for recursion of things like lands or things like Regrowth, then you draw a free permanent, so it likes decks heavy with things that have a battlefield presence, and you can always just return a land if there is nothing else! Those Food are copyable with the White and Blue artifact token copiers we've already seen here!
#11. Generous Plunderer
Welcome back to red! This Grizzly Bear (2/2) has evasion in menace. In your upkeep you can make a free Treasure and give a (target, crime) foe one tapped. Then when this swings, you'll shoot the attacked player equal to their artifact count! That's nasty with all of the artifact tokens, mana rocks, mana dorks like Solemn Simulacrum and loads more! It's a win con on a Treasure maker aggro sized Bear! Love the Rogue (outlaw) loads here!
#10. Omenpath Journey
Let's stick in Gruul over the last few picks for my first Top Ten and enchantment entry! This four-drop has an ETB trigger to search your library for five lands from your library with different names, and then toss them here. EOT toss one randomly on your battlefield tapped! Because of the "different" names restriction, this is best in Highlander and Commander style formats with one-of anyway, save for basics! You can grab nonbasics and ramp too, and get the Urzatron into the battlefield by only grabbing them. Since it's ETB, you can flicker/recur it after your last land arrives, and grab another five set. It's in Green for enchantment matters too.
#9. Lost Jitte
Let's move to colorless equipment next! This one-drop, one equip is very strong early with the equipping, unlike the 2 each the card it's simulating. You toss on counter on this when it deals damage, not two, but you can untap a land to make mana, force a target dork to not block, or toss a +1/+1 counter to perma-pump the equipped dork! It's so good at all of your fun stuff!
#8. Tarnation Vista
From one colorless first turn play to another in land form is this ETB tapped and name a color which it'll tap as. Then you can tap it with one to produce one mana in each color of mono-colored permanents you control. In an Azorius Commander deck, if you control your Commander Brago, nothing is made, but if a Mulldrifter and Sun Titan are out, you'll make a Blue and White mana each. Love this little mana making land loads!
#7. Vaultborn Tyrant
Our top-scoring mono-Green dork is this seven-drop 6/6 with trample on curve to beat. When it, or another dork with four power, ETBs, you draw and gain three life. Note that's not just once/turn or just nontokens, that's them all! There are no brakes on that ability to reduce its power. Then it also has a death trigger to make a token copy of it when it dies, that's also an artifact, but just the once. See copying artifact tokens here. An ETB and death trigger on one dork can be quite powerful, like Solemn Simulacrum, and it's very powerful. Love it in the same deck as earlier hitting Food lover Bristlebud Farmer or things from OTJ proper like 4/2 plotter 4 power card draw too Outcaster Trailblazer as well as spree spell to give them all hexproof and indestructible or drop them from your hand Smuggler's Surprise! Run this with Greater Good to force the leaves play, and draw six and discard three for no mana in case someone tries to exile it or bounce/tuck it to stop the death trigger.
#6. Transmutation Font
Everything from here on up is an artifact, save one! This colorless five-drop will tap for no mana to make one of three key artifact token types for you for value - Clue for pure card draw, Blood for card flow or graveyard additions, or Food for life! Then you can also tap it for three mana to sacrifice three differently named artifact tokens to Tinker. Search for your best most nasty artifact, drop it to the battlefield. From Mana Rocks such as Gilded Lotus and Thran Dynamo to card flow like Mind's Eye or Skullclamp to win cons like Blightsteel Colossus and others, all you have to do is have three differently named artifact tokens, like the ones made or Treasure, the 1/1 colorless artifact Gnomes in this set, Powerstones, Junk, Gold, Constructs, the above card, loads more.
#5. Esoteric Duplicator
Our top scoring mono-Blue is this three-drop Clue! Welcome to the Top 5! This has a sacrifice trigger for any artifact you control, not just tokens, by the by. You can spend 2 mana to make a copy as a token in this end step. You'll wait a bit, but a two-mana copy of a sacrificed artifact is worth the delay since you can break this all around the block. People love their copies! From Goblin Bombardment on a Solemn Simulacrum to Krark-Clan Ironworks to break this by making copy mana, this is awesome. Please note that since this is a Clue, you can sac it too for mana and make that copy as well!
#4. Nexus of Becoming
This six-drop colorless artifact is next! It has a beginning of combat trigger, so drop it main phase and get it before things happen badly. You'll draw, nice, and then you can exile an artifact or critter from your hand and make a token copy that's a 3/3 Golem artifact too! See how nasty that is? Free cards, free copies, free dorks, all for nothing after the initial cost! It's nasty from where I am sitting! But it does exile, so they cannot be recurred, it's a one-trick pony show. So, there are limits, hence probably why it was printed in a Standard-legal set!
#3. Loot, the Key to Everything
Our lone non-artifact left, and then legendary dork for Commander I built around here (Looting with Permanents in Commander | Article by Abe Sargent (coolstuffinc.com)). They cost three for a Temur 1/2 with ward 1 to protect a bit. Loot has an upkeep trigger to exile can cast that turn cards from your library equal all nonland card types I control, but not themself. So, if I drop turn one Sol Ring or turn two Arcane Signet, that's one after him for artifacts. You'll want to spread out your permanents to make that very powerful. This is great with a fun new permanent matters concept. Check out my deck!
#2. Sword of Wealth and Power
This began on my top spot on this list from early spoilers, but then as I read more and more, it moved back after the power of the next card was seen on full spoiler release day. It's another Sword of X and Y, this time with protection from instants and sorceries to save it from most targeted removal and interaction. Note that's your stuff too! But no evasion help there. Then when it smashes face, you'll make a Treasure, and your next instant/sorcery cast is copied for free. No mana needed, just combat damage. This is great with Commanders that need protection, Spellslinger/Magecraft decks to copy and cast, Voltrons to protect while growing in size unlike Swiftfoot Boots, Treasure decks, and loads more. It's so good!
#1. Memory Vessel
I've got cha here! You weren't in my Top 10 first article in OTJ, but you are my top color overall in this five-drop artifact that taps and self-exiles so just once. Then you have each player exile the top seven card and until my next turn everyone can cast, and just what was exiled, and I cannot activate it save at sorcery speed. This is a fixed Memory Jar, that costs a color with red, cannot be recurred, only exiles instead of draws, one full turn window, and just at sorcery speed. But we know how broken Memory Jar was, so a Standard legal one with this many breaks may not be great for Standard, but it will be amazing as another addition to artifact matters or cool card flow. It's very much a great card flow enabler for kitchen table play! Sure, you'll exile this and your cards, but so will your foes, so no one can cast them later.
And there we are! Next week we'll hit up my favorite cards for casual play from Outlaws of Thunder Junction Commander.
