Top Ten #2 for Bloomburrow Cards

Reddit

Hello awesome MTG casual table fans! I hope your day is going super mega well! Today I wanted to knock out my favorite cards from Bloomburrow for casual play like Commander, multiplayer, Highlander, Five Color, Type Four and Peasant/Pauper too. This is a sequel to last Friday's article which you can find here: (Top Ten Cards from Bloomburrow #1 | Article by Abe Sargent (coolstuffinc.com) Ready? Let's do it to it!

#13. Glarb, Calamity's Augur

Glarb, Calamity's Augur

This three-drop and color legendary dork in Sultai colors with a blocking 2/4 deathtouch body is first on today's list! You can look at the top cards of your library any time, and then drop lands and cast pricey things from the top. The fact that you can only cast four cost spells and more is a bit of a break since you cannot explode with cards each turn. Then you can tap him to surveil 2 to help filter what's on top. Love his bigger caring stuff and then surveil too makes sense. Also scry, Sensei's Divining Top and Sylvan Library are in color too! Love him loads!

#12. Dour Port-Mage

Dour Port-Mage

This two-drop 1/3 mono-Blue dork is next! It's basically an Equinaut card drawing machine. (It's a deck I made here - CasualNation #57 - The Equinaut Primer | Article by Abe Sargent (coolstuffinc.com). Basically, you use Bant to self-bounce with Fleetfoot Panther and trigger Equilibrium to bounce opposing stuff. Here you'll draw a card when a creature leaves play but didn't die, like bounce or blink, like Azorius Aethermage for bouncing. See also tucking. This is a great card draw machine there, ditto the two mana tap to self-bounce one of your dorks to your hand to jumpstart your Whitemane Lion effects or trigger leaves play effects. Love it loads!

#11. Fecund Greenshell

Fecund Greenshell

This five-drop mono-Green dork with a 4/6 reaching body is next! It's a double Anthem for your team if you have 10 lands. Then this has an ETB trigger as well for anything with higher toughness. You'll look at the top card of your library, ramp tapped if it's a land and then draw if not. Guaranteed ramping to card draw from everything from Wall of Blossoms to Silklash Spider (check out last week's article here for that reference - Commander Classics No More | Article by Abe Sargent (coolstuffinc.com)) Delighted Halfling et al will draw and ramp et all. It's a win con too with the pump of your stuff.

#10. Baylen, the Haymaker

Baylen, the Haymaker

Another three-drop three color on curve dork is next! This time in Naya colors. This time it leads a 4/3 sized dork with three abilities to tap your untapped tokens for various effects that scale up the more you tap. Note this can be Clues, Food, dorks, Treasures, loads more. None of the tapping requires mana or tapping her, so you can do them on arrival to the battlefield and as many times as you have untapped stuff. Two taps will make a mana, three taps will draw a card and four taps will grow her by +3/+3 permanently and give her trample for a win con. Our own Nigel built around her here (Brewing Budget Commander with Baylen, the Haymaker | Article by Nigel Kurtz (coolstuffinc.com)). She's a fun ramp, card flow win con combo for tokens, a beloved archetype in Commander and elsewhere!

#9. Coiling Rebirth

Coiling Rebirth

This five-mana rare sorcery spell is next in Black! You can Zombify a dork to your battlefield from your graveyard. You can also gift a card to make a free 1/1 copy token of it if it's not legendary. Giving a free card can make a friend and then it's worth it to make a copy of what your best card was, especially. You prefer cards on the battlefield to in your hand. It's a more powerful battlefield and built-in protection from an Edict effect targeting you. Grab this reanimation sorcery and try it out, I suspect you'll be happy with the results!

#8. Stormsplitter

Stormsplitter

This four-drop 1/4 haster is next! You'll make copies of it whenever you cast that sorcery or instant spell, so that's a lot of swings on your turn, but they'll die (exiled) EOT so there is no reason not to swing. I love this thing loads and I hope you do as well since it's a win con for Spellslinger, Cantrips or Storm.

#7. Darkstar Augur

Darkstar Augur

This three-drop offspring one mana 2/3 Black flyer is next, around the middle point of my middle Top Ten!! In your upkeep you'll reveal the top card of your library and draw it and lose its mana cost in life, so it's a take on Dark Confidant on a bigger cost and body with the ability to make two. In Commander's 40 life format it's pretty solidly strong. In 20 life formats, that offspring might kill you, so watch out. But a three mana Confidant with flying and harder to kill toughness is pretty good right on there!

#6. Patchwork Banner

Patchwork Banner

This three-drop Manalith is next! I love these in Commander over Commander's Sphere and Arcane Signet since they'll tap for things outside of your color identity for needs like activating abilities for things you take and such. The more colors in your deck, the better these get, like Five Color! Then this has another ability in Kindred brews built around a creature type! What's that? They get pumped by +1/+1 in size making this a cross between an on-curve Mana Rock and Lord effect for your creature type! It's also PEZ legal uncommon, although I doubt you'd wanna spend your previous 5 uncommon slots on Mana Rocks. Maybe the Anthem/Lord part would give it to you though.

#5. Eluge, the Shoreless Sea

Eluge, the Shoreless Sea

Everyone's new favorite four-drop mono-Blue Island loving Fish is next! This is legendary for Command Zone purpose, and its size is equal to your Island count to be a beater. When you swing with it or this ETBs you can toss a Flood counter to make a land an Island too. The first instant/sorcery you cast each turn costs one less for your Flood counters. Love it loads! It should be pretty easy to build around. Might I suggest MH3's Harbinger of the Seas? Note that you can toss Flood counters on opposing lands too.

#4. Hired Claw

Hired Claw

Check out this one-drop mono-Red rare Lizard Mercenary next! It's got an okay body of 1/2 and an attack trigger of any Lizard, it too, to shoot a foe for one damage this time, and you can mana sink here once per turn to toss a +1/+1 counter if a foe lost life. Cast this turn one, swing turn two, ting the defender, toss a +1/+1 counter here with your mana, you've now dealt three with your 2/3. Attack next turn, ping, add another, you've deal seven in two turns from a 3/4. Sure, there are some breaks for multiplayer, just one takes the damage, and just one per attack no matter how many attacked, but you can see the power here all up and down, and make that choo choo sound!

#3. Three Tree City

Three Tree City

Another land is next on this week's fun vacation! This doesn't ETB tapped, you can tap it for colorless and with two mana to make mana of one color equal to your creature count of the chosen creature type you chose on arrival to the battlefield. This is the Nykthos of Kindred decks. It's a powerhouse of mana making, and unlike devotion, this will count tokens you chose too as well as dorks you cast.

#2. Hivespine Wolverine

Hivespine Wolverine

This five-drop 5/4 on-curve Wolverine is next! You have four options! On a naked board, you can toss a +1/+1 counter on something. Or you can destroy an artifact or enchantment, so it's a Naturalize on a stick. Or if there is a token dork you wanna kill like a copy with offspring, you can fight it and kill it. Tons of options there! This thing is so good at the drama! And we love our drama!

#1. Azure Beastbinder

Azure Beastbinder

Our top card from my list today is this two-drop 1/3 blocking Blue rare. It has vigilance and evasion since it cannot be blocked by higher power stuff that could kill it. Just 0 and 1 power dorks can block. Then layer in an attack trigger, to get you attack the open person with unblockable. Your foe's dork, artifact or planeswalker, loses all abilities and becomes a 2/2. That lets you answer things for a turn. You do have to target it. I love this on opposing Commanders that are breaking the game to turn them off for a round of turns. It's strong there so grab it and run it!

And there we go! I hope that you enjoyed my second list, next week we'll finish the set!
