Today during the lunch break of the Magic Online Championship Lee Sharpe announced the upcoming Legacy Festival. The Festival will start June 8th with the Legacy Gauntlet and conclude July 24th with the Legacy Festival Championship. The Festival is be split into three phases: Discover, Assemble, and Conquer.
The Discover phase of the Legacy Festival will consist of the Legacy Gauntlet. From June 8th until June 16th, players will have the option to enter a Swiss tournament where they will be assigned a Legacy deck from a pool curated by Research and Development. Similar to the Pro Tour Gauntlet, this will allow players the chance to learn about different popular decks in Legacy.
Assemble is the phase where players can start acquiring cards for a Legacy deck. How? By playing with Eternal Masters of course. During this phase Magic Online will offer Draft tournaments and Sealed Leagues for Eternal Masters, releasing new Legacy staples into program. Assemble will run June 16th through July 6th.
Starting on June 15th, Legacy Leagues will move from Friendly to Competitive. Going 5-0 in a Legacy League run between July 6th and July 20th will qualify you for the Legacy Festival Championship on July 24th. The prize for this tournament? Premium and non-Premium sets of Eternal Masters, Vintage Masters, Modern Masters, and Modern Masters 2015.
The Legacy Festival will allow players to experience Legacy in a new way on Magic Online. It also provides insight into what future celebrations may look like on the digital platform. More information, including all prizes for the events, can be found in the official announcement.
