I'm revisiting the old Invasion of Alara // Awaken the Maelstrom combo deck today in Standard. The game plan is simple. Cast Invasion of Alara as soon as possible where your targets can only be Bramble Familiar. Then you can cast Fetch Quest for free, your best hit is going to be Cemetery Desecrator or an Etali hitting a Cemetery Desecrator which will then remove all the counters from Invasion of Alara and transform it for an insane amount of card advantage. Everything else in the deck is a hit for Bramble Familiar or a spell that has a high converted mana cost but you can cast for cheaper, like Virtue of Persistence. Deck's a blast!
