Dear Alterers, we're back with our third Altered Reality Challenge, and this time we're asking you to take inspiration from the Vorthos-lovin' set of Innistrad.

Of special note is that we've increased the gift certificates given out with this Altered Reality Challenge, and also how it is distributed. Now the popular vote and judged winner receive equal prize, $30 each. The popular vote runner up gets $15. So an entrant could conceivably win $60 credit for their work.

The Prompt

Alter a "Commander," e.g. a Legendary Creature, to be one of the following: Werewolf, Vampire or Zombie.

Judging

Our judges will rate each entry on the three axes below, and provide their comments.

• Artistic Merit
• Quality of Work
• Innovation

Popular Vote – When all the entries are posted, we will open up voting to the general public and determine a secondary winner.

Jeremy Froggatt - Alterer and Columnist for StarCityGames.com. He reached out to me after the first ARC, and so I decided to take him up on his offer.

Andre Garcia - Andre draws our T:apped webcomic, does some painted alters, and draws on playmats. He's a fantastic artist and helped judge our first ARC.

Don Wiggins - Proprietor of Don's Magic and Sundry, I thought it might be fun to have him judging given his love for alters. He's sold alters through his online store and though he isn't an artist (as far as I know) I felt a non-art perspective would be of benefit to the contest.

Rules for Entry

• You must physically alter a card. You may decide how to do the alter and in what sort of medium, but no digital alterations will be accepted.
• Your entry must be your own. No entering on behalf of others.
• You must send clear photos of your alter. Scanning tends to give best results.
• Your alter must follow the prompt set forth above.
• Each submission must be in our e-mail inbox by the announced deadline to qualify.
• You may only enter one alter.
• Have fun!

Prizes

The judged winner will again receive a $30 gift certificate to CoolStuffInc.com, the popular vote winner will receive a $30 gift certificate, and the popular vote runner-up will receive a $15 gift certificate to CoolStuffInc.com. Yes, the same person can win both the judging and the popular vote.

Entering

Your entry must be e-mailed to alters@gatheringmagic.com with the subject line “ARC #3” and have the images attached. Along with the images, your e-mail should contain the following info: name, e-mail address, Twitter Account (if applicable), title for alter (if applicable), description / note, any relevant links.
