Three Sweet Community Brews for Bloomburrow Standard

Reddit

Hello Reader - and welcome back to my little corner of the universe where I get to talk about some sweet community-created Standard brews in this ever-evolving Standard landscape! For those of you who may be reading this article as your first introduction into my corner, I play a lot of Standard over on my Twitch channel. Very frequently, I am playing community-created decks that I take to the MTGArena ladder or play in Magic: The Gathering Online leagues. I thought that since this landscape keeps growing, it would be pretty cool to feature 3 of these community-created Standard decks that I enjoy playing as a good homage to my third article here!

The first decklist that I'd like to highlight is Twitch user Dudelite's take on Naya (W/R/G) Legends.

The Naya Legends deck was one of the many sweet lists that came out of the MTG Japan Open a few weeks ago. Dudelite has made some changes that they believe is better against the current metagame on the MTGArena ladder. This decklist's plan is clear - copy all of the triggered abilities that you can! Dudelite's Naya Legends build has the tools to combat the Innkeeper's Talent decks, while also going over-the-top of all the midrange decks with cards like Etali, Primal Conqueror // Etali, Primal Sickness and Dragonhawk, Fate's Tempest. Elesh Norn, Mother of Machines acts as a good counter to the Domain Ramp builds, while serving as additional copies of Annie Joins Up to increase your triggered ability count. I would go into more detail about how much I love Roxanne, Starfall Savant, but you can find that in my Gruul (R/G) Ramp article here.

Next up for the sweet community brews, I present to you TinyAwoo's Dimir (U/B) Rats!

TinyAwoo has been working on Rat decks since Wilds of Eldraine, and with Bloomburrow focusing on Rats as one of the main creature types, why wouldn't you want to jam them? One of the highlighted cards in this deck is definitely Azure Beastbinder - which in TinyAwoo's and my opinion, is a significantly underrated card. Azure Beastbinder is almost always pushing some damage through, while at the same time having the ability to change another creature's power and toughness to suit your needs. For example, one could change the power and toughness of a creature to move it out-of-range of being able to block. The opposite is also true - that one could change something like a 5/5 creature into a 2/2, which could then be easily targeted by Cut Down. Karumonix, the Rat King, also helps provide an alternate poison win condition in this deck, making creatures that aren't able to be blocked an even bigger threat. I think that if I could make any changes to this particular build, I would include some copies of Lord Skitter, Sewer King in the main deck, simply for the fact that it can put out 1/1 Rat creature tokens (that can't block), which increases the amount of creatures that could have Toxic from Karumonix, the Rat King, and increase the power of both Persistent Marshstalker and Rat tokens (that can block) created by Vren, the Relentless.

The last community-created deck that I'd like to feature this week was created by Metafoozi, and is a pretty sweet take on an Abzan (W/B/G) Delney, Streetwise Lookout "Combo" deck!

After playing a couple matches with this deck, I was in love - it's such a blast to play, and when the deck does the thing, it does it so well! Metafoozi's deck takes full advantage of gaining life, and losing life strategies from Case of the Uneaten Feast, Elas il-Kor, Sadistic Pilgrim, and Starscape Cleric - resulting in your opponent losing a lot of life over a series of just a couple turns. And even if you take a little while to assemble the combo with cards like Assemble the Players (pun intended) and Honest Rutstein for backup, you can start picking at your opponent's life total with your unblockable creatures thanks to Delney, Streetwise Lookout's other ability. If there's any change I'd make to this deck, it would simply be to move some removal spells around. While I am a fan of Annihilating Glare and Assassin's Trophy, those cards may be better served as some number of Cut Down and Go for the Throat in the main deck. For you MTGArena players out there, Delney, Streetwise Lookout is the only mythic in the deck - so if you can, certainly take this deck for a spin!

Featuring community-created decks is something I absolutely love to do, and honestly, it's what makes streaming so fun! If you have the chance, check my stream out on Twitch at https://www.twitch.tv/cfavretto_jr , where you'll find me regularly climbing the MTGArena ladder and playing Standard Leagues on Magic: The Gathering Online. Submit decks for me to play during the stream - and maybe your brew will end up in an article here next! The Duskmourn Streamer Event has been announced for Wednesday September 18th, and since I've been participating in those events, I have always featured community-created decks for the entirety of those streams - so make sure you come by on that day to check out what the community is brewing!

Until next time, Reader! I'll see you on the Battlefield!
