Quite Enchanting

Reddit

One of the most exciting things about Pauper is that people are always finding new combinations of commons that attack the format in interesting ways. Over the last couple of weeks, we've seen the rise of Mono-White Heroic to prominence. This past week, we saw a crazy Enchantment-based control deck that plays a number of rarely-seen cards to incredible effect:

Kruphix's Insight
The key idea behind this deck is that you want to utilize Heliod's Pilgrim and Kruphix's Insight as a card advantage engine, helping you find key auras that help you lock down whatever your opponent is trying to do. Early on in the game, you may be looking for Fertile Ground and Trace of Abundance to accelerate you. Then you'll be looking for cards like Faith's Fetters and Quiet Disrepair to deal with opposing permanents.

Your end game involves the likes of Pestilence backed up by Protective Sphere. Pestilence lets you keep opposing creatures under control, particularly swarms. Protective Sphere lets you protect your life total from any huge swings due to things like Lightning Bolt or flash threats. A huge part of the power of this deck is that Abundant Growth and Fertile Grounds fix your mana for these 2 powerful cards, making Pestilence a consistent sweeper and letting Protective Sphere be a maindeck card. In the event that you can't Pestilence your opponent out, that's when Curse of the Bloody Tome gets to work.

All in all, this is a fairly non-traditional control deck by Pauper standards. The lack of counterspells is surprising, and the engine here is something that's almost completely new. If you're looking to do interesting tricks with obscure enchantments, this is the deck for you. As far as customization goes, the sky is the limit. With the amount of fixing in this deck, you could play just about any enchantment and Kruphix's Insight will give you a great chance of finding and leveraging it. It remains to be seem if this deck has what it takes to persist in the Pauper metagame, but there's only one way to find out!
