One of the most interesting things about Modern is how cards from disparate sets can come together into a cohesive whole that does something incredible, not just because of the individual power of the cards, but because of the interactions. We've seen that in the form of Collected Company decks, Griselbrand decks, and other wacky combos that have cropped up over the format's lifetime. Today's deck is an exciting example of how these kinds of synergies can power an aggressive deck rather than a midrange or combo deck.

At its core, this deck is looking to be a hyper aggressive hybrid of Burn and Affinity. You've got the Goblin Guides and Lightning Bolts out of Burn combined with the Memnites and Mox Opals out of Affinity. Typically, combining these kinds of disparate pieces isn't the best idea, but here they are brought together with the aggressive core of the deck: Kuldotha Rebirth, Goblin Bushwhacker, and Reckless Bushwhacker.
The idea here is pretty straightforward. You can lead off with a flurry of aggressive creatures and then follow up with a Bushwhacker for huge damage. If your opponent has early interaction, you can still set up a turn where you can play Memnite, Signal Pest, and a Bushwhacker on turn two or three with some help from Simian Spirit Guide or Mox Opal. Even if your opponent has enough Electrolyzes or sweepers to handle the first couple waves of creatures, you've got Lightning Bolt, Atarka's Command, and even Goblin Grenade to try to deal the last couple points of damage.
Perhaps the most interesting thing about this deck is how it lines up against the hate cards against both Burn and Affinity. You don't care especially much about Stony Silence and Ancient Grudge most of the time and you aren't particularly vulnerable to cards like Kor Firewalker or Leyline of Sanctity. Sure, all of those cards are good, but they aren't the game-ending haymakers that they usually are. Unlike most hybrid strategies, this deck manages to avoid the pitfall of getting completely dismantled by splash hate.
If you're looking for a new and exciting way to get aggressive in Modern, this seems like a fun take. The most exciting part is that there's plenty of room for small innovations to customize for your metagame. Cards like Bitterblossom and Selfless Spirit out of the sideboard seem particularly powerful depending on what exactly you expect to see out of your opponents. If you've got a gameplan that's fast, synergistic, and hard to hate out, that sounds like a great recipe for success.
