Arena of the Planeswalkers
This weekend I picked up a copy of Arena of the Planeswalkers from CoolStuffInc. This is a cool take on a Magic tactical board game that features the Magic Origins Planeswalkers going head-to-head. With all the combat and spellslinging you're used to from Magic, this game was a lot of fun, and has already gotten some of my friends and family members more invested in the characters and mechanics of Magic than before. Adam has already done a fantastic review of the game, so I won't dwell on that too much, but I'm excited to share a quick peek at my experience playing the game and definitely recommend picking it up.

Paragon LA
Last week was PAX and, while Magic and Battle for Zendikar may have been the star of the show as far as I was concerned, it wasn't the only exciting thing going on. There was also Smash at PAX, which was an enormously exciting event despite low attendance from the players of the highest caliber. The reason? The king is back. Leffen has had a meteoric rise over this past year and has been dominating the big events all summer. No one has felt this more than Mew2King, having been defeated soundly by Leffen the last several times they had met, leading some players to question whether he was still at the top of the game. Last weekend Mew2King emphatically reminded people of why he is among the best ever to play with back to back 3-0 victories over Leffen.
This weekend, we have more of the game's best gathering for Paragon LA. There's been an astonishing amount of new technology and optimization this summer, and more players are looking to challenge the top echelon of players than ever before. The game may be 15 years old, but the matches are more exciting than ever.
