IDW Publishing has announced the launch of the Magic: The Gathering comic books, a new comic book series based on the stories and worlds in Magic's repetoire. Details on the storyline are sparse other than the announcement containing the following quote from the series editor Denton J. Tipton: "I’m really looking forward to telling new stories in the many worlds of Magic, which have been near and dear to my heart since the mid-90s.”

The series will be written by Matt Forbeck (personal website) and illustrated by Martin Cóccolo. Forbeck has written about Magic before, in 1996 he wrote backup material for 'Fallen Angel' from Acclaim comics.
