We've officially entered "limbo week."

The full card list for Murders at Karlov Manor is out. We know all the cards and we've got ones we've got our eyes on for various decks and formats. However, we won't have our hands on them until the end of the week in paper when the prereleases start to fire, and on Tuesday on the online platforms like MTG Arena and Magic Online.

Luckily, MTG Arena knows this is basically a dead week on the calendar, so they've given us some Cube to play!

Cube is the perfect downtime medicine, providing a fun and unique format that is completely independent of set releases. This draft went pretty well too, with a solid deck with a nice curve and some bombs.

If you take one thing away from this draft for your own Cube drafts, internalize the idea of value over replacement. This is the idea that the individual power level of a card isn't nearly as important as how abundant cards of its type are.

There are a ton of awesome five-mana bombs in the Cube, but you can only play so many 5-drops and they are by and large interchangeable.

However, when it comes to 1-drop mana dorks, there are only three in the entire Cube. Compare this to the dozens and dozens of four- and five-mana threats, and it's easy to understand why a card like Llanowar Elves is such a high pick - nothing else does what it does.

So, fire up a Cube on MTG Arena, or even better build your own in paper!
