Hall of famers are hall of famers for a reason.
We got to welcome back longtime pro Paul Rietzl to our testing team for Pro Tour Murders at Karlov Manor for his first Pro Tour in a long time, and the hall of famer didn't disappoint.
The team was exploring various kindred decks to try and abuse Cavern of Souls in what we expected to be a No More Lies-heavy Blue/White Control metagame, and vampires was on the list. Paul put Vein Ripper in the deck alongside Sorin, Imperious Bloodlord, and the rest, as they say it, is history!

This video was recorded a few days before I left for the testing house in Chicago, and is a very early version of the deck.
Despite being fun with Smuggler's Copter, Ichor Drinker didn't make the final decklist, but this is a really cool look into the early part of the deck-building genesis and what it takes to get from start to finish. Deck-building in Magic takes a lot, and most brews don't work out, but when one does it is something special.
I'll have more in my article Friday all about the Pro Tour, and next Monday's video will be the finished product of Seth's Pro Tour winning deck, but for now enjoy this peek behind the veil of Pro Tour preparation!
