If you told me that "cat" would be a relevantcreature type in Modern, I would have laughed at you.
Sure, King of the Pride is a fun callback to Savannah Lions, but for the most parts the creature type cat just isn't that relevant.
Or at least it wasn't!

Landfall decks in Modern have always been extremely explosive, but a bit lacking both good threats as well as resilience. Well, Modern Horizons 3 provides reinforcements on both fronts.
Ajani, Nacatl Pariah // Ajani, Nacatl Avenger is the card that makes the creature type cat relevant, making more cats as well as pumping the team, while also providing removal and resilience and frankly just being a very powerful card that ultimates very quickly. And while this isn't a true energy deck, when every card in the deck costs two or less, Amped Raptor is basically just a mini-Bloodbraid Elf which is awesome.
The deck also gains the powerful Reckless Pyrosurfer, which greatly helps to increase the possibility of turn three kills by doling out a bunch of battlecry triggers with your fetchlands.
Listen, if you like going fast and/or have a thing for cats, this is the deck for you!
