The biggest controversy in the history of the world's most popular board game has been unfolding over the past few weeks. Chess Grandmaster, reigning champion, and undeniable GOAT of the sport Magnus Carlsen was beaten by relatively unknown American pro Hans Niemann, which led to a cavalcade of fallout including allegations of cheating, Carlsen dropping from more than 1 event, odd and awkward behavior from Niemann and others, and most distressingly: more discussion of how certain "sphincter contractions" might be used to aid in cheating than I ever expected.
