Five White Decks for Foundations Standard

Reddit

Hello everyone. As we begin to approach the release of Aetherdrift, it's time for me to begin my series of articles that feature decks that are focused on a particular color. As usual, I'll be starting with White and working my way around the wubrg wheel. Let's get started.

Mono-White Rabbits

The first deck I have for you is a Mono-White deck that focuses on the Rabbit creature type. While it might not have a lot of actual Rabbit creature spells in the deck, you'll be creating a bunch of Rabbit creature tokens when you play this deck. Let's start by taking a look at the deck.

Hop to It
Season of the Burrow
Carrot Cake

The goal of this deck is to flood the battlefield with Rabbit creatures and creature tokens. Both Hop to It and Season of the Burrow can be used to create multiple Rabbit creature tokens at once. Carrot Cake can also be used to gain a pair of Rabbits, as well as a few additional points of life.

Once you have created a fair-sized colony of Rabbits, your next step is to cast Banner of Kinship. Once this artifact is on the battlefield, it will gain a fellowship counter for each of your Rabbits, which will then provide each of your rabbits with a +1/+1 bonus for each fellowship counter on Banner of Kinship. The final step is to attack with your Rabbits for the winn.

Azorius Flyers

Next, we'll add some Blue mana to the mix and look at a deck that wants to dominate the skies. Let's take a look at the deck.

Empyrean Eagle

Every creature in this deck has flying. That can make blocking your team extremely challenging for certain opponents. It also makes Empyrean Eagle a key player for your team. Empyrean Eagle provides each other creature you control with flying a +1/+1 bonus. In a deck with this much evasion, boosts like that can end games quickly.

Empyrean Eagle is the only creature in this deck that doesn't have flash. By casting your creatures at the end of your opponent's turn, you can avoid losing them all to a mass removal spell. They also won't suffer from summoning sickness as long, and you'll be able to attack with them right away on your next turn.

Orzhov Life Drain

Next, I have a White & Black deck that utilizes Bats as a way to drain away your opponent's life total. Let's take a look at the deck.

Starscape Cleric
Starscape Cleric is a key player in this deck. Its ability that forces your opponent to lose 1 life whenever you gain life can allow you to end games quickly. If you're lucky, you can start the game by playing Authority of the Consuls on your first turn. This allows you to start building up a higher life total and can provide the means for Starscape Cleric to consistently lower your opponent's life total.

Lifecreed Duo is another way for you to gain life whenever you play another creature card. A cool combo you can pull off with this deck has you casting Raise the Past with a graveyard full of creatures. Since most of your team has a mana value of 2 or less, you can return a lot of creatures to the battlefield. It's possible to defeat your opponent in one fell swoop if you can gain life by returning a bunch of creatures to the battlefield while dealing damage doing this with Starscape Cleric.

Boros One Turn Kill

The next deck I have for you is capable of defeating your opponent without even attacking. Let's check it out.

Hare Apparent
Raise the Past

This is another deck that utilizes Raise the Past to return a bunch of creatures to the battlefield, dealing a ton of damage. Since the only creature in this deck is Hare Apparent, when you cast Raise the Past, you're guaranteed to return every creature in your graveyard to the battlefield. Plus, since Hare Apparent brings with it a number of Rabbit creature tokens equal to the number of other creatures you control that are named Hare Apparent, you'll have a lot of creatures entering the battlefield at the same time.

In order to win without even needing to attack, you'll need to have either Impact Tremors or Warleader's Call on the battlefield. Each of these enchantments will deal 1 damage to your opponent whenever a creature you control enters the battlefield. If you have multiple copies of Impact Tremors or Warleader's Call in play when you cast Raise the Past, the destruction happens even more quickly. Trust me when I say this deck is a blast to play.

Selesnya Eldrazi Hedron Ramp

The final deck I have for you this week uses some mana ramp to power out impressive creatures. Let's take a look at the deck.

Zetalpa, Primal Dawn
Tyrranax Rex
Vaultborn Tyrant

By using the ramp power of Hedron Archive, you'll be able to play some of Standard's best creatures. Zetalpa, Primal Dawn is an indestructible threat that has multiple keywords including two of my favorites, double strike and trample. Tyrranax Rex is another massive creature with trample, ensuring that you'll be able to deal damage to your opponent if they don't have some large blockers. There's also Vaultborn Tyrant, who helps you gain additional life when you bring in other creatures. It also replaces itself when it dies, for added value.

Sire of Seven Deaths, though, is the big star of this deck. A 7/7 creature for 7 mana would just be okay, but when you add in all of the keywords it has, you get some insane value. With both first strike and menace, your opponent is definitely going to have trouble blocking Sire of Seven Deaths effectively. Add in trample, and things get even worse for your opponent. Sire also has vigilance, so you will be able to block with it if your opponent decides to attack. It also has reach, lifelink, and ward, showcasing the power that the Eldrazi truly have.

Wrapping Up

White-based decks have a lot of resiliency in our current Standard environment. Raise the Past is one of my favorite spells right now, making the destruction of your creatures seem not so bad. Couple that with White's removal spells and ability to gain life, and you have some truly amazing decks that you can try out.

What do you think of these decks? Feel free to share this article with your friends anywhere on social media. And be sure to join me here again next week as I continue my search for innovative decks in Standard. I'll see you then!
