Hello everyone. I'm back again with some fun, two-colored Wilds of Eldraine Standard decks that you can use either against your friends, at a tournament at your local game store, or on Magic Arena. Let's get started.
Boros Bunny Fling Combo Deck
To start things off this week, I have a Boros deck that can win unexpectedly. Let's take a look at the deck.
Boros Bunny Fling Combo Deck | WOE Standard | Hexamyn, aetherhub.com user
- Creatures (20)
- 1 Mondrak, Glory Dominus
- 2 Devilish Valet
- 3 Adeline, Resplendent Cathar
- 3 Voldaren Epicure
- 3 Voldaren Thrillseeker
- 4 Regal Bunnicorn
- 4 Resolute Reinforcements
- Instants (6)
- 2 Monstrous Rage
- 4 Torch the Tower
- Sorceries (2)
- 2 Return Triumphant
- Enchantments (8)
- 2 Virtue of Loyalty
- 3 Rabble Rousing
- 3 Wedding Announcement // Wedding Festivity
At its heart, this is a combo deck. The goal is to pump up the stats of Regal Bunnicorn by playing all sorts of other nonland permanents. Play things like Resolute Reinforcements, netting you two permanents for the low price of just two mana. Create additional token creatures with the help of enchantments, such as Rabble Rousing and Wedding Announcement // Wedding Festivity. Every token you create is an additional point of power and toughness for Regal Bunnicorn.
The other part of the combo is Voldaren Thrillseeker. Since it has backup 2 as an ability, you'll get to place two +1/+1 counters on a creature when Voldaren Thrillseeker enters the battlefield. If that creature happens to be a different creature than Voldaren Thrillseeker, the creature will gain an ability allowing it to be sacrificed in order to deal damage equal to its power to any target. With enough nonland permanents in play, you can get Regal Bunnicorn's power high enough to defeat your opponent without even attacking them.
Izzet Prowess
The next deck I have for you uses prowess as a means of dealing a ton of damage when attacking. Let's take a look at the deck.
Izzet Prowess | WOE Standard | Redd_Cat_MTG, aetherhub.com user
This deck includes playsets of four creatures that get better when you cast any of the instant spells in this deck. Electrostatic Infantry gains a +1/+1 counter each time this happens. Frolicking Familiar, Khenra Spellspear, and Monastery Swiftspear all effectively have prowess in this deck, getting a +1/+1 bonus whenever you cast an instant spell. By getting a few of these creatures in play before having a turn where you cast instant spell after instant spell, you'll be able to swing in for a ton of damage.
Your damage output is increased if you happen to cast the adventure side of Two-Headed Hunter, Twice the Rage, first. Doing this not only increases the stats of any creature with prowess (or psuedo-prowess), but it will also provide double strike to the creature it targets. If you cast this after blockers are declared, you can target an unblocked creature, and hopefully swing for the win.
Simic Otter Auras
Next, I have a deck that can be difficult for your opponent to block. Let's check it out.
Simic Otter Auras | WOE Standard | Hexamyn, aetherhub.com user
- Creatures (18)
- 2 Delver of Secrets
- 2 Saiba Cryptomancer
- 3 Ivy, Gleeful Spellthief
- 3 Suspicious Stowaway // Seafaring Werewolf
- 4 Elusive Otter
- 4 Stormchaser Drake
- Instants (11)
- 3 Make Disappear
- 4 Giant Growth
- 4 Royal Treatment
- Enchantments (10)
- 2 Security Bypass
- 4 Audacity
- 4 Combat Research
- Lands (21)
- 5 Forest
- 6 Island
- 1 Boseiju, Who Endures
- 1 Otawara, Soaring City
- 4 Dreamroot Cascade
- 4 Yavimaya Coast
Elusive Otter is one creature your opponent will need to deal with right away. It has an ability that makes it unable to be blocked by creatures that have less power than it has. In a similar way, Suspicious Stowaway // Seafaring Werewolf also must be dealt with right away, or else you can attack with it for quite a bit of damage. Both Elusive Otter and Suspicious Stowaway benefit greatly from spells like Giant Growth, Combat Research, and Audacity being cast upon them.
To add yet another creature to the mix that must be dealt with quickly, this deck includes three copies of Ivy, Gleeful Spellthief. While she is on the battlefield, any spell you cast that targets only one creature will also create a copy of that spell targeting Ivy. Since she has flying, she is an elusive threat that can swoop in for quite a bit of damage if left unchecked.
Rakdos Fling
The final deck I have for you is another deck that uses Voldaren Thrillseeker to inflict some unanticipated damage onto your opponent. Let's take a look at the deck.
Rakdos Fling | WOE Standard | Redd_Cat_MTG, aetherhub.com user
- Creatures (24)
- 4 Balduvian Berserker
- 4 Bloodtithe Harvester
- 4 Cacophony Scamp
- 4 Callous Sell-Sword
- 4 Tenacious Underdog
- 4 Voldaren Thrillseeker
- Planeswalkers (3)
- 3 Ob Nixilis, the Adversary
- Instants (7)
- 1 Not Dead After All
- 2 Blazing Crescendo
- 4 Monstrous Rage
- Sorceries (3)
- 1 Witch's Mark
- 2 Annihilating Glare
Once again, Voldaren Thrillseeker makes it possible for you to sacrifice any creature in order to deal damage to any target equal to the power of that creature. However, it isn't the only way to achieve this effect. Many of the creatures in this deck are able to deal damage to any target when they die. These include Cacophony Scamp and Balduvian Berserker. This effect can also be achieved with the adventure side of Callous Sell-Sword, Burn Together.
Because of the amount of creatures that deal damage when they die, you can set up a big turn where you block your opponent's attack, dying in the process, and set up casting a huge Callous Sell-Sword. Since Callous Sell-Sword enters the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter for each creature that dies under your control this turn, you can often get a few counters on it if you time things correctly. It's then just a simple matter of casting Voldaren Thrillseeker, and 'flinging' Callous Sell-Sword to finish off their remaining health.
