Three Takes on Hare Apparent in Foundations Standard

Reddit

Hello everyone. Hare Apparent is a creature from Foundations that I love. There's something about being able to include as many copies of it in my deck that really speaks to me as a player. If you're also a fan of Hare Apparent, you'll want to check out the decks I have for you this week, as they all prominently feature this Rabbit Noble. Let's get started.

Mono-White Rabbit Swarm

We'll start off with a Mono-White deck that will act as a foundation for each of the other decks this week. Let's take a look at the deck.

Hare Apparent

Hare Apparent

Hare Apparent's ability to create a number of 1/1 Rabbit creature tokens when it enters the battlefield cannot be understated. While the number of tokens starts off small, as long as the battlefield doesn't get wiped of creatures, the number of creature tokens you'll create in the later stages of the game can be staggering. I'd love to see a copy of Invasion of Gobakhan // Lightshield Array included in this deck that could help you prevent a board wipe, but since this is an aggro deck, that might end up being too slow.

Besides, this deck runs a pair of Raise the Past as insurance against any spells that would destroy all creatures. Raise the Past returns all creature cards from your graveyard to the battlefield as long as those creatures have a mana value of 2 or less. All of the creature cards returned to the battlefield with this spell come back at the same time and they all see each other, so you can end up creating a ton of 1/1 Rabbit creature tokens.

By having an all White mana base, this deck can easily take advantage of playing Virtue of Loyalty. While this enchantment is on the battlefield, you'll put a +1/+1 counter on each creature you control, making them an even bigger threat than they were. You'll also untap all of those creatures, providing you with a lot of protection from your opponent's attacking creatures.

Boros Impactful Hares

The next deck I have for you utilizes the sheer amount of creatures you are able to bring into play to win games, potentially without even attacking. Let's check it out.

Hinterland Sanctifier
Hare Apparent

In addition to Hare Apparent, this deck runs a full playset of Hinterland Sanctifier. This otherwise unassuming Rabbit Cleric will allow you to gain 1 life whenever another creature you control enters the battlefield. As you can imagine, this can amount to quite a bit of additional life, especially if you return multiple copies of Hare Apparent to the battlefield by casting Raise the Past.

There are also three copies of Impact Tremors included in this deck. While this enchantment is on the battlefield, it will deal 1 damage to your opponent whenever a creature comes into play under your control. By simply chump blocking with your Hare Apparent creatures and Rabbit creature tokens, you can win the game out of nowhere by casting Raise the Past. Additionally, this deck runs three copies of Warleader's Call, which provides the same damage-dealing ability whenever you have creatures that enter the battlefield.

If you're not able to win outright with direct damage, you can utilize the X/1 Phyrexian Horror creature token created each turn by Urabrask's Forge to get the job done. Not only will it deal some additional direct damage if you have Impact Tremors or Warleader's Call in play, but the token it creates has trample, so the longer the game goes on, the more potential trample damage this token will do.

Selesnya Hare Trigger

The final deck I have for you this week can go both big and wide. Let's take a look at the deck.

Pawpatch Recruit
Valley Mightcaller

Both Pawpatch Recruit and Valley Mightcaller are important creatures in this deck. With Pawpatch Recruit, you have a way to pump other creatures whenever your opponent targets one of your creatures with a spell or ability. Valley Mightcaller simply gets bigger with each Frog or Rabbit you gain. Both of these creatures have trample, allowing you to potentially deal damage to your opponent even if blocked.

This deck also includes a pair of cards that will boost your creatures with a +1/+1 bonus. Valley Questcaller only grants this +1/+1 bonus to other Rabbits you control, but in a deck that includes Hare Apparent, it's likely that a majority of your creatures will get this bonus. There's also Anthem of Champions, a nondiscriminatory enchantment that gives all of your creatures +1/+1.

The fact that Anthem of Champions is an enchantment is important, because this deck also utilizes Ethereal Armor. With this enchantment in play, the creature enchanted with it gains a +1/+1 bonus for each enchantment you control, plus first strike. If you also enchant the same creature with Sheltered by Ghosts, the enchanted creature will get an additional +1/+0 boost, plus ward 2. The best target for these enchantments will always be a creature with trample, so that you can push through extra damage when attacking.

Wrapping Up

I'm a big fan of the cards that allow you to include as many copies of them in your decks (Relentless Rats, Persistent Petitioners, etc.). They offer a level of creativity when making a deck that other cards don't have. Plus, it's really cool to see just how many copies of the same card you can have in play at once.

What do you think of these decks? Feel free to share this article with your friends anywhere on social media. And be sure to join me here again next week as I continue my search for innovative decks in Standard. I'll see you then!
