Grand Prix Omaha may have been Treasure Cruise's last hurrah. The final tournament before Pro Tour Fate Reforged (and the related Banned & Restricted list update) had 1,139 players all battling to be the best thoroughly modern Magician. The Top 8 reflected a diverse format and featured seven different archetypes, from stalwarts Birthing Pod and Blue-Red Delver to returning entrants Merfolk and Zoo.
The finals saw Eric Peters and his take on Birthing Pod up against Stephen Speck and Amulet Bloom Combo. Speck's deck attempts to abuse Amulet of Vigor, Summer Bloom, and lands such as Gruul Turf to generate a significant mana advantage. Combining Hive Mind and Pact of Negation can lead to a combo finish, as can Primeval Titan and Slayer's Stronghold.
Speck's deck, however, did not fire in the finals. Eric Peters' consistent Birthing Pod deck was able to take down Stephen's more volatile deck, netting Peters the trophy.
