Aleksa Telarov wasn't going to have an easy time winning Grand Prix Madrid. His first opponent in the Top 8 was Pro Tour Fate Reforged Champion Antonio Del Moral León and Grand Prix slayer Fabrizio Anteri was waiting in his side of the bracket.
Undeterred, Telarov swpet the Pro Tour winner in two games while Anteri lost in his own quarterfinals. Telarov squared off in back to back three game sets against Ashraf Abou Omar and then again against Francesco Giorgio. After that last match, Telarov, a six-time Serbian National Champion, had outlasted 1,411 other players to win Grand Prix Madrid!
