Bloomburrow Preview Season Begins
The hype is real as the latest preview season officially kicks off with Bloomburrow cards starting to get revealed to the world! The set has been highly anticipated for its cute and fuzzy aesthetic, featuring a very Redwall-esque plane, and so far it seems to be living up to players' expectations quite well. If you'd like to check out all the awesome stuff yourself, you can check out the official CoolStuffInc store page for the set or else check out my preview recap article that should also be live today or soon after.

Roughly three weeks ago, many Magic players discovered that through API utilization, it was possible for players to gain full access to Magic Online data. This could mean a very sweeping look at what the data could offer to players! Then, later that same day, Daybreak Games - the company currently running MTGO - stated they were taking the decklist page down for review.
Now earlier this week, decklists finally made their return back, with some changes. For some time, Daybreak had begun providing access to every 5-0 list from the leagues as well as every list from every premier tournament regardless of placing. This gave players a ton of data to draw from and glean information on format health. These new changes revert back to what they were previously when Wizards formally ran MTGO providing only top 32 lists from premier events and a select assortment of 5-0 lists. This change proved highly unpopular among players who felt this wasn't helpful and made it seem like Wizards - and in turn Daybreak - was hiding the poor health of certain formats like this next one I'm about to cover...
Legacy $5k Canceled
Following the no changes B&R announcement two weeks ago, Legacy players have been lashing out angrily at Wizards due to the format desperately needing a change. This discussion has grown all the more apparent as MTGO decklists return. Early results showed the popular Dimir "Scam-animator" (a Reanimator build centered around Grief) taking up over 30% of the Legacy meta share over on MTGGoldfish! For a format that's as traditionally wide and deep as Legacy, that's a truly alarming number to see.

Given this, longtime Pennsylvania TO Owl Central Games announced they were canceling their upcoming $5k Legacy event. This event was sure to draw a large amount of players, as many in the Legacy scene noted they were excited to play such an event. However, owing to the stark prevalence of Scam-animator, the players who would've attended and the TO determined the legality of Grief in the format would've led to an awful time for everyone involved. Given this, the decision was made to cancel the event entirely.

With the absence of MTGO decklists throughout the weekend, there wasn't too many events to cover. However, despite that, the big talk of the town was the Bobbie-Christine Charity Standard Open hosted by Niles Joan River. This event brought in all kinds of faces and community prizing support to benefit popular content creator Bobbie-Christine Brewer who had recently been diagnosed with cancer. Ashley Munoz Preyeses won the event on the back of Simic Aggro - a fun and popular deck that by and large also happens to make for a great choice to utilize week one post rotation! Congratulations Ashley, and all the best from the community and CoolStuffInc to Bobbie-Christine on a speedy recovery.
