Good Luck High Five Receives Aid Following Theft

This past Tuesday, popular Magic content team Good Luck High Five announced they had a break-in at their studio. A large amount of their equipment used in recording and content production was stolen, and they took to Twitter to put the word out about it. Soon after, they also launched a GoFundMe page to allow people to help contribute toward getting them back on their feet as quickly as possible. In a show of good holiday cheer, they reached their goal of $10,000 within just a day's time, allowing them to get back to work quickly. They've left it open for those still willing to contribute and help cover anything they haven't realized was taken down the line.

If you happen to live in the Minneapolis area and frequent spaces like Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, and pawn shops, then please help keep an eye out for this stolen equipment. You can find out exactly what was taken in the initial announcement tweet here.

LoadingReadyRun Launches Friday Nights Kickstarter

Also this past Tuesday, comedy troupe LoadingReadyRun announced a Kickstarter to help revive their classic Friday Nights series! The series was beloved by many Magic players and was done in collaboration with Wizards of the Coast up until 2019. Now the gang wants to get it going once again on their own but need the backing to get them there.

The Kickstarter reached its goal within just a matter of days, but as is typical with these kinds of projects, there are still stretch goals to be reached! If you'd like to contribute, you can check out the Kickstarter page here. If you missed out on the series throughout the 2010s, you can check out the full playlist on LoadingReadyRun's YouTube page here.

For The Marbles Video Series Kickstarter Launched

In a week full to the brim with community crowdfunding efforts, popular content creators and competitive players Corey Baumeister and Ross Merriam announced a Kickstarter for a new YouTube project! The project is titled For The Marbles and will be focusing more heavily on competitive play. In recent years, competitive content has taken somewhat of a step back as casual-focused content has taken center stage with the rise of Commander. This series hopes to help bring players some more of that competitive gameplay but with the same type of "kitchen-table feel" you might get from the aforementioned Commander content.

At the time of writing, the project is currently sitting at a little below $5000 of its $52,000 goal. If you'd like to support some stellar competitive gameplay with two of the best in the scene, check their Kickstarter out here!

New Browser Extension Allows You to Find 404'd WotC Articles

Toward the end of 2022, many articles on the official Wizards of the Coast website were lost due to a major website overhaul. Only Mark Rosewater's Making Magic column was guaranteed to be maintained, with others proving to be somewhat hit and miss. This has been a problem for many people trying to do research on a variety of topics, such as looking up old tournament coverage, release-related notices, and banned and restricted announcements.

On December 23, Twitter user MaxMakesMagic teased an upcoming extension for Chrome that would allow you to find archived links of old articles that are now 404ing. Just a few days later, on December 25th, he released the extension - titled DeeKay - to the public, stating that it was now available on the Chrome Webstore! He also noted that it will soon be available on Firefox as well. If you've been on the lookout for a lost article or two, definitely take this extension for a spin!

Decklist of the Week

In a generally light holiday week with no major paper events happening, good ol' Magic Online got to take center stage instead. The Vintage Cube returned (if you had a valid upgraded account before December 13th, you got a free entry, so login and play!) and players also got to utilize the All Access pass for two weeks as well. This time around, players could purchase two All Access tokens to use as entry into the Super Qualifier event of their choice. The winner of Wednesday's Modern Super Qualifier was Temur Rhinos (aka Crashing Footfalls), a deck that utilizes removal effects until it can play either Shardless Agent or Violent Outburst for a pair of cheap (or free, depending on the card used) 4/4 rhinos to overwhelm opponents! The deck got a recent buff thanks to Tishana's Tidebender and it handedly took down the event. Congratulations to bresett123 and the winners of all the other MTGO Super Qualifier events of the week!

Have a safe and wonderful new year everyone, and I'll see you in 2024!
