Oh! Hey. Didn’t see you there. Welcome to my humble weekly wrap up article. Join me, won’t you? There sure have been a lot of quality pieces of content on our site this week, and would be delighted to collect some of that fine content here for you to enjoy. It’s another Gathering Magic Week in Review!
News and Announcements
There was some big news earlier in the week when Wizards of the Coast showed off the packaging for Modern Masters 2017. If you haven’t seen it, check it out below!
Looks like we have our first peek at what MM2017 has in store for us. Griselbrand, Domri Rade, and . . . is that Stoic Angel? Huh . . . that’s a bit weird. You would expect the fronts of the booster packs to have some of the most exciting inclusions in the latest Masters set; but, other than big Gris there really isn’t anything too exciting. Granted, I do think Stoic Angel looks very good on the front of a booster pack, but shouldn’t Wizards be trying to hype us up for this. We haven’t gotten anything for months on Modern Masters and this is the first things we see? It doesn’t look good. The set may be incredible, but it sure doesn’t look like it based on what we’ve seen so far. But wait . . . what’s that art on the back of the box display?
That spark-wielding mage sure is interesting. Any chance it could be Snapcaster Mage? Only time will tell, but I certainly hope it is, and that it’s not a mythic (though it probably will be).
In other news, we have another look at Amonkhet, the upcoming spring expansion and new block! Wizards was kind enough to show us the booster packs and Planeswalker decks for the new set, and things are shaping up to be sweet.
We got new art of Gideon, Liliana, and Nissa, as well as what we assume to be five gods of Amonkhet. Not only that, but we’re getting some neat full art basics! 1 in 4 packs of Amonkhet will contain a full art basic featuring the iconic horns of Nicol Bolas. Looks like we have a lot to look forward to in the coming months!
