Today we are changing our commenting guidelines. This is the blurb that precedes the comments on every article on this site that governs the policy by which we moderate the discussions.
Old
Please join our discussions! Share your thoughts, ideas, questions and constructive criticisms. However foul language, personal attacks, linking comments for SEO purposes and trolling of any kind, will be removed without warning.
New
Please join our discussions! Share your thoughts, ideas, questions and constructive criticisms. However foul language, personal attacks, SEO linking, trolling of any kind and negative comments which provide no new value to discussions will be removed without warning.
This means comments which are negative without providing any constructive feedback or value will no longer be tolerated in the comments. Any comments which exist from previous comments that go against the new rule are grandfathered in and will be left untouched. However, moving forward, the new comment guidelines will be enforced.
This does not mean that negative comments are completely disallowed, it means that to be negative, you have to do more than simply say "that sucks" you instead need to expand and explain why you disliked whatever you're commenting on.
If you see any new comment which breaks our comment policy, please make use of the 'Flag' link on the comment to aid in our moderation of the site.
