Greetings, Illumineers! It's that time of the week again where we cover the latest news and updates regarding Disney Lorcana. We're just now wrapping up week 1 with Archazia's Island and we have some amazing coverage of a premier event, as well as updates to the Archazia's Island Set Championships. We'll wrap it up with an artist spotlight for a familiar face in the alter community. Without further ado, let's jump right in!
Jeremy Bertarioni wins South Side Gaming Archazia's Island 10 Case Tournament
South Side Gaming recently hosted a day 1 Archazia's Island release event with over 138 Illumineers battling it out for their share of 10 cases of the brand-new set. This tournament was set 7 legal, meaning that it was primed to set the foundation for the meta moving forward. Now, early predictions expected Sapphire in the finals, and possibly Steel as well, but when I show you the list that won, I think it's going to surprise you quite a bit.

Now, for being a game just under two years old, Lorcana has been lacking some pretty consistent combo decks... until now. It's all thanks to a card we've already forgotten about, Oswald - The Lucky Rabbit. Being in a ramp deck where a large portion of the deck is items gives you more opportunities to trigger Oswald's "Favorable Chance" ability, allowing you to reveal cards from the top of your deck and play them for free if it's an item. With impactful cards, such as Fishbone Quill, Great Stone Dragon, Maurice's Workshop, and Lucky Dime, all it takes is to hit one or two before getting some significant returns from playing Oswald. Worst case scenario, he quests for a solid two lore to help close the gap if necessary. Jeremy, from the podcast Club Lorcana, worked closely with Zan Syed, winner of Disney Lorcana Challenge: Vegas, on this list and the work has paid off. He was able to walk away with some significant new set prizing, and set the field for what we can expect in future events. Archazia's Island Set Championship Dates Announced
Ravensburger has provided stores that participate in organized play with date ranges to host their Set Championships. Starting May 3rd, through to May 25th, Illumineers can battle it out on every Saturday and Sunday for their shot at a Hiro Hamada - Armor Designer championship mat. What's unique this time around is that there will be only ONE championship mat which can make the event quite competitive towards the end. However, the top 8 will still get a foil enchanted version of Hiro Hamada - Armor Designer. New for this go around, there will be a participation prize of a non-foil version of the card as well. Stores will most likely start reaching out to their customers to let them know when and where to sign up. Good luck out there, Illumineers!
Artist Alter Spotlight: Lur Altered!
Lastly, I wanted to revisit some of Lur Altered's artwork, specifically this amazing Hei-hei! Her alters are some of my favorites and it's another great way to enhance and enjoy the artwork from Disney Lorcana. I do wish these cards were playable, but they'll be fine looking just as beautiful in a binder or display case. Check out more of her work here!
