I'm really excited to start this series as there is so much to cover in the world of Disney Lorcana. The goal for this week, and following weeks, will be to catch you up on the latest news, happenings, and more. Let's jump into our first week!
Lorcana at D23
Disney Lorcana tends to pull a pretty significant crowd during conventions. D23 was no different. Each day, Illumineers were lining up to purchase exclusive products and get promos as well. This year, Ravensburger had the following available:
Disney Lorcana: D23 Collection - 2024
This 6 card set comes in an amazing display and is available exclusively at D23 and select Disney locations. It contains 1 card from each set, and if you do the math right, you'll notice that we only have 5 sets out so far. That's right! We have our first preview of the unnamed set 6 card Oswald - The Lucky Rabbit!
I had a few friends personally drive up to Disney Springs to line up at the World of Disney as early as the prior evening! As of writing this article, the set continues to come in reasonable waves to World of Disney, but there's no telling how long that will last. MSRP is $99.
Disney Lorcana 2024 1st Anniversary Pin
Can you believe Lorcana has already been out for a year? To commemorate this achievement, Ravensburger has created a gold pin unique from the typical pins we expect to see during league or the 1st ever Lorcana pin. These were handed out for free at D23 with and without purchase.
Mickey Mouse - Playful Sorcerer promo
Lastly, a new Mickey Mouse promo was provided to fans with a unique D23 stamp and a gold-tinted foiling, unseen on any prior promos. It's an amazing card and I hope to see one in person sometime soon!
Shimmering Skies Released!
Shimmering Skies, Disney Lorcana's 5th set, is a celebration after dealing with the challenges Ursula left us during Ursula's Return. With a slew of new cards, the possibilities are endless for new decks. Make sure to check out our reviews so far:

Set Championships Prizes Announced!
Set Championships are one of my favorite times of Disney Lorcana. Visiting all hosting stores and playing out for coveted prizes is a great reward toward the dedication it takes to build, learn, and pilot decks. For this set, we're getting Mirabel Madrigal - Family Gatherer. New for this set championship however, is that the Top 8 are getting a card, instead of the Top 4. This is sure to be a welcome change for those making top cut and losing out to sometimes walk out with nothing, which is surely a heartbreak. The Top 2 continue to get the Champion mat and non-champion mat, respectively.
Disney Lorcana Challenge Continentals and Worlds Location and Prizing Announced!
Ravensburger has finally revealed that Continentals for the US will be in an unnamed DisneyLand Resort in Anaheim sometime in January 2025, while the EU region's location will be in an unnamed DisneyLand Paris Resort in December of 2024. Worlds will be held at a Disney World Resort in Orlando sometime in 2025. All competitors making it to Worlds will earn an alternate version of A Whole New World, while the grand prize will be a serialized 1 out of 1 copy of the Mickey Mouse - Brave Little Tailor with an additional set of text that says "WORLD CHAMPION 2025". With how much the other serialized ones are going for, I couldn't even begin to imagine what kind of value this one would bring.
Set 6 Previews
During a D23 panel, the Disney Lorcana team decided to show the world the first glimpse of cards for the next set, due to release November 15th, 2024. We got our first look at familiar friends, such as Daisy Duck, Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Mickey Mouse, and Donald Duck. However, new to the fray will be the Rescue Rangers franchise! The theme looks to follow more of a seafaring adventure. I wonder what new cards, or mechanics they could have in store for us.
A Glimpse Beyond
Lastly, during the D23 panel, the Disney Lorcana team shared that we can expect to see new franchises in Lorcana, such as Black Cauldron (in 2025), Pocohontas (in 2026), and Pixar (also in 2026!) I'm sure these details are locked tight as of right now, but we'll be sure to report on them once they become available.
Wrapping Up
Wow, what a ton of information to drop during the first week. I may have set the bar a little high, but the timing was impeccable. Disney Lorcana is in such a great place right now. If we reflect on where we were just last year after The First Chapter released, I would've never guessed it to be here.
