Greetings, Illumineers! Can you believe this week flew by, let alone the first month of the year? And then before you know it, Archazia's Island will be in hobby stores on March 7th. All right, my head is spinning, so let's take a moment, slow down, and enjoy what's happened this week, in Disney Lorcana.
Disney Lorcana Challenge: Melbourne this weekend

The first DLC of the Oceania region will be held in Melbourne, Australia this weekend. This will be the third region with an official competitive circuit leading into DLC: Worlds, whenever that might be. This DLC is unique compared to the others, in that the winner of each DLC in both North America and Europe received invites. In this case, the top two players of DLC: Melbourne will be invited to DLC: Worlds. Will we see a Nationals event transpire for the Oceania region, or is that something that might be established for the next season? Who knows, but I'm excited to learn more once that information becomes available. Good luck to those competing this weekend, as let's get those golden Mickeys and Worlds invites!
Grand Prix events announced for Japan

Disney Lorcana in Japan is off to an explosive start following the announcement of two grand prix events, leading into their very own Disney Lorcana Japan Championship to be held sometime in 2026. The first event, scheduled for May 31st 2025, seems to fall in line with the release window of Rise of the Floodborn, which means we'll most likely see set 2 meta decks resurging back into popularity. Does anyone miss the introduction to bounce effects for Ruby/Amethyst? How about Amber/Steel Songs with Stitch Rockstar and Stitch Surfer? What a blast from the past!
The next event is scheduled for July 26th, 2025, which might end up lining up with their release of Into the Inklands and Ursula's Return, depending on when those are slated for release. More events are to be announced in the future, so if you're looking to compete in the Japan region, stay tuned!
Oh, and I almost forgot. If you're planning on playing competitively in these regions, you MUST play with all Japanese cards. There's been some confusion as far as Japanese and Chinese card legality in other regions, mainly due to the difference in card material type. However, it is clear that if you are competing in China or Japan, you must use each of those region's card types only.
Dual inks and Vanish introduced in Archazia's Island

The spoiler season is upon us, and we have our first look at a brand new ink type for Disney Lorcana, and that's dual inks! Not much has been revealed on exactly how they will work, but it might be safe to assume that playing with a dual ink card locks you into those two inks, rather than allowing this card to be used in decks with either one of the dual inks on the card. Regardless, Ravensburger plans to share more on February 10th, so make sure to tune in for that, wherever they plan on sharing it.
Vanish is a new keyword for characters with the Illusion trait:

From the surface, it seems as if Illusion characters will be characters that are slightly above the curve with overpowered abilities. While less problematic for decks that use a lot of targeted actions, like Amber/Steel Songs, I can find other decks struggling a bit unless they plan on including a few actions themselves. I'm sure we'll see more Illusion characters, as well as new actions that help support decks in combating them as well in the upcoming spoilers.
That's it for this week! Tune in next week as we begin to ramp up for the spoiler season for Archazia's Island and eagerly await details regarding Disney Lorcana Challenge: Worlds. In the meantime, I'll leave you with a few questions. What dual inks do you want to see in Archazia's Island? Do you think Vanish will be impactful during this set? What characters do you want to see in dual inks?
