Today is the day I can finally formally announce the next Magic: The Gathering art show. The working title will be announced soon. Today is not for the branded specifics, today is for the facts
Magic Art Show 2: Japan
Who?
I will be curating the art show, as part of an overall experience that Wizards of the Coast APAC will be hosting. It is an official event.
What?
This full experience will include both historical aspects of Magic, original paintings, a film, concept art, and an exclusive preview card painting revealed on site. It is not affiliated with a Grand Prix event.
Where?
It will be located within a high end mall complex, called Lumine. Hearing from a few Vorthos folks I know across the pond, it's a luxury mall. I'm not sure what that entirely means, but there will be a secure space.
How?
The event is ticketed, with a cost of 500 yen to enter, about $5.
When?
September 11-17, 2018
Art will have to be shipped in mid August, returned in late September.
Deadline to submit is August 8.
What's next?
A call for art. While I have a few confirmations in the community already, both the organizers in Japan and myself have a short list of wanted artworks. Here is the list they are looking for:
