This past weekend, while most of us were taking part in the New Phyrexia pre-release, Saturday also included another nerd-holiday: Free Comic Book Day! Various comic printers and publishers put out comics for free, intent on drawing in new customers and readers by removing the initial investment barrier. Wizards of the Coast and IDW Publishing took part putting out a copy of their comic, following Garruk and Lilliana's ongoing battle.

Towards the end of the comic there was an ad which noted that coming this Fall IDW Publishing and Wizards of the Coast would be releasing comics with exclusive playable cards. It also included the url: http://www.idwpublishing.com/magic-comic - a url which as of this article's publishing resulted in a 404 page.

We reached out to Wizards and were told that "we'll be excited to announce something soon. Stay tuned!" No further information was given but we expect more information in the coming weeks about this partnership and the comics.

Our conjecture is that it will be a tie-in with Innistrad, given that the plane seems tied to Lilianna and that this weekend's comic followed the Lilianna and Garruk story line. The art below appears to be new art which we haven't seen before.
