The plague came out of nowhere and ravaged the world. Fever, cough, sores, and death - once infected, most died within a week. Nothing could stop it. The world did its best. It wasn't good enough.
The last fragments of our people have desperately kept the world from collapsing completely. For three generations we have lived on the seas, on floating stations they called "havens." Far from the plague, we are able to provide supplies to the mainland - antibiotics, food, medicine, and tools - to keep them (and us) from succumbing completely. We keep a network of the largest known cities in the world alive. Things have been tough the past few years. Cities far away from the havens have fallen off the grid. We don't know what's happened to them. We don't know why the supplies aren't reaching them. We have only a few cities left on our gird. We are failing.
A cooperative legacy game for two to four players, Pandemic Legacy: Season 2 immerses players in a harrowing tale of survival. It is seventy-one years after the events of Pandemic Legacy: Season 1, and humanity has been brought to its knees. A network of the last known cities persists, supplied by the havens, isolated stations floating in the ocean far from the plague. Three generations of survivors have called the havens home. Most of them have never set foot on the mainland. But now supplies are running low and the people have turned to you to lead. It's up to you to save what remaining cities you can and stop the world from ending for good.
What Remains
The world players enter at the beginning of Pandemic Legacy: Season 2 has changed significantly since Pandemic Legacy: Season 1. As you begin your first game, only a small portion of the world is visible - the few surviving cities that remain on the grid. On top of supplying the mainland with the antibiotics, food, medicine, and tools it needs to survive, you must explore the once-known parts of the globe that have since gone dark. Once there, your team will make discoveries, and encounter new dangers and challenges as you search for answers.
Over the course of a year, you and your team must search for answers to the vicious plague while maintaining your supply network. Your actions will carry over to future games and your choices will forever alter the world. Cities will rise and fall, your characters will learn new skills and may become permanently scarred, new rules will come into play, and the very game board will be forever altered. Each development affects the course of your group's unique journey through this post-apocalyptic world and contributes its own twist to your story.
Not the Same Pandemic
One thing you may notice from looking at the game board for Pandemic Legacy: Season 2 is the size of the world. This isn't the same Pandemic you've come to know. The world has changed since the end of Season 1, and much of civilization has fallen off the grid. As you go through your campaign, you'll need to do reconnaissance to discover parts of the map that have gone dark, adding new cities to the grid and making new discoveries about this new world and the nature of the plague that threatens humanity's survival.
Supply and Demand
Rather than attempting to clear out and cure disease, Pandemic Legacy: Season 2 finds players attempting to keep the remaining cities of the grid supplied in their fight against the plague. Supplies dwindle as cities become infected, and once a city faces the infection without supplies to fight it off, the Plague sets in. The Plague can decimate the cities' populations, causing them to become more unstable. Riots can break out, and cities can fall off the grid, becoming forsaken.
Objectives
The campaign takes place over the course of a year, each month bringing new challenges to overcome and objectives to complete. Players must complete their objectives to win the game and move on to the next month, but they will be constantly fighting against the inevitable spread of the Plague. Objectives carry over from month to month and can come and go as the game instructs. So keep your objectives in mind as you make decisions that will change your characters, your game, and the world forever.
Reconnaissance
On top of completing your objectives, players must perform reconnaissance and open up new sections of the world to explore. Completing reconnaissance will allow players to add new regions to the game, adding lost cities back to the grid and bringing revelations about the state of the world with them. Who knows what is waiting within the secret numbered packages doing recon will allow you to open? What surprises await?
