In the case of worldwide nuclear war, we shall walk you step by step through surviving, and eventually thriving, in the irradiated wasteland left outside the confines of your Vault-Tec vault.

When you step into the wasteland, you are on your own! Each survivor will need to earn experience, fight dangerous enemies, scavenge, trade, and complete quests to make it out there. At the start of your journey, you will have nothing but the vault suit on your back. By following this survival guide, you will grow in power and wealth quickly and learn to vie for influence with whatever factions now control the wasteland around you.

    Welcome to the Wasteland

Quest cardsa and a game board tile displayed in an artful fan.

Players will choose from one of four scenarios, based on the settings and stories from the Fallout video games, and set out to explore the wasteland. Much of the wasteland is uncharted, so players will need to explore the unknown in search of the loot and experience they will need if they want to gain influence among the various factions. But, danger lurks in those uncharted lands, and it'll take everything you have to make it through and live another day.

    Explore
On their turn, a player can use one of their actions to explore an adjacent tile, flipping it face up and revealing a new sector of the wasteland to scavenge. Each new tile brings new dangers, revealing treacherous and irradiated terrain or fearsome enemies that will tear your limb from limb. Use the move action to traverse the wasteland, moving from sector to sector in search of new locations to loot and enemies to fight for experience. Be careful, though. Some terrain will prove challenging to cross or inflict you with rads, making your life harder.

    Quest
The factions and various denizens of the wasteland are in dire need of some help and will have plenty of quests for the players to tackle. Each quest will have multiple objectives, multiple ways to tackle it, and different rewards for those who accomplish them. New items and quests will be pulled from the card library, giving players new objectives. Players can also have encounters with groups of survivors and settlements as they search for anything useful. Success or Failure, these encounters will shape your story and either give you a fighting chance in the unforgiving wilds, or leave you for dead.

    Fight
Sometimes, you'll need to come face to face with the wasteland's worst if you want to complete objectives. Everything from Raiders to Deathclaws and Sentry Bots stand in your way between amazing loot and furthering your agendas. You'll need to pay attention to weak points, using the V.A.T.S. Dice to take aim and take out enemies for XP. Enemies hit back, though. They hit back hard. If your health ever reaches or drops below your Rads, you'll need to head back to the Crossroads Camp, leaving your inventory behind. And if your Rads ever max out, then it's game over for you. The wasteland claims another victim.
