At the turn of th 16th Century, King Manuel I commissioned Portugal's greatest artisans to construct grandiose buildings. After completing the Palaces of Evora and Sintra, the king sought to build a Summer Pavilion to honor the most famous members of the royal family. This construction was intended for the most talented artisans - whose skills meet the splendor that the royal family deserves. Sadly, King Manuel I died before construction ever began.
In Azul - Summer Pavilion, players return to Portugal to accomplish the task that never began. As a master artisan, you must use the finest materials to create the Summer Pavilion while carefully avoiding wasting supplies. Only the best will rise to the challenge to honor the Portugeuse royal family. The core of the game remains the same: drafting tiles from the various factories in order to place them on your board and score points. However, there are some new twists unique to Azul - Summer Pavilion! For every round, a new color of tile is made a wild tile, usable to build up any part of your board. If you surround a window, statue, or pillar space on your board, you can take bonus tiles from the central board to add to your supply for the rest of the round. You can also store a small number of tiles to be used in future rounds!
Plan ahead, using the wild tiles to your advantage, and you should have no problem coming out on top in the end!
