1,646 players assembled for Grand Prix Atlantic City. At the end of the swiss, we had a star-studded Top 8, featuring Josh Utter-Leyton, Brad Nelson, Ari Lax, and Matt Costa. Most players expected various Thragtusk or Restoration Angel midrange decks to define this event, but it was the weekend for a different deck.

Bant Hexproof was the breakout deck of the tournament and the event came down to a mirror match between Josh Utter-Leyton and Jon Stern. The deck looks to sneak under the rest of the format by suiting up various Hexproof and evasive creatures with auras like Spectral Flight, Rancor and Ethereal Armor, powering them up with Increasing Savagery, and pairing them with creatures like Silverblade Paladin and Nearheath Pilgrim.
