2024 has been a wild year for Lorcana. With four sets, a handful of Disney Lorcana Challenges, two Continentals, leading up to the exciting Worlds event set to take place sometime next year in Disney World, it's safe to say that Lorcana has proven it has the staying power to start a strong year in 2025. However, we're going to take a moment and look back on some of the most impactful cards of 2024 as a send off to a fantastic year for Illumineers all over the world. Let's get started.
The Top Disney Lorcana Cards in 2024
Genie - Wish Fulfilled is hands down one of the most impactful cards of Azurite Seas, let alone this whole past year. I'm almost happy that this card came out later, because the impact it would've had in the meta early on would've been earthsharing. Amethyst, set over set, continues to be one of the most supporting inks in Disney Lorcana, and Genie - Wish Fulfilled is no exception. We will without a doubt continue to see Genie - Wish Fulfilled well into 2025, so we'll probably be revisiting this card again in the future very soon.
I may be a bit biased here, but I think we can all agree that Cinderella continues to define a majority, if not all of Amber decks in the meta for 2024. Threatening massive oppression thanks to songs that synergize well with her. Not being able to establish an early board in fear of immediate removal can disrupt a lot of aggro-based decks. To top it all off, she was one of the selected cards to receive the Enchanted variant in Rise of the Floodborn, and deservingly so. Cinderella will absolutely be celebrating the new year with us, if not more.
A nightmare card from The First Chapter continues to reign terror into Azurite Sea for two of the top meta decks of this set. Board wipes are always frustrating to deal with as an opponent as it continues to check you from going wide or playing out your own bombs in the fear that they are immediately banished. On the flip side, being a song means that late game characters can sing this and allow you to play out a board of characters, immediately switching tempo and forcing your opponent on the backfoot. I absolutely loathe this card, but I understand why it must exist.
Hiram Flaversham - Toymaker is another fantastic card from Rise of the Floodborn that continues to be an auto-include in pretty much all Sapphire-based decks. Allowing you to draw two cards on both when he's played and when questing allows Sapphire the ability to safely ramp without the fear of committing your entire hand to ink. Having 6 willpower makes him extremely hard to remove, unless you're a Ruby-based deck. Some may say Hiram is the next card due for an errata, but there's something particularly necessary for him to exist as-is for Sapphire to exist in the game. Keep eating them Pawpsicles, Hiram.
A Whole New World is one of those cards that you either really love or really hate whether you're the player or the opponent. There have been countless times where you have such a grip on tempo as a Steelsong player and you need to fill your hand with additional remove or board threats and either get all of it or nothing. True to the term of high roll, A Whole New World can be just as disruptive for yourself, just as your opponent. Regardless, A Whole New World is definitely here to stay well into 2025.
Diablo - Devoted Herald, our last most impactful card in 2024 definitely caused waves on release and beyond, even being part of the the most recent winning decklist for Disney Lorcana Challenge - Seattle. When out in droves, immediate removal is required, otherwise your opponent will always have a hand advantage over you. While Diablo - Devoted Herald has been hiding for a bit, there's always an opportunity for him to reign terror in the right meta. So, he may be lurking in the shadows a bit early on for 2025.
