Imagine sipping on that hatorade...
Hall of Famer Willy Edel recently revived the defunct Mono-White control deck in Standard, by dipping into a trio of very hateful White creatures that line up well against the current top decks in the metagame. Is this what it takes to bring The Eternal Wanderer and friends back to the top of the format?

Until the printing of Atraxa, Grand Unifier and the banning of Reckoner Bankbuster, Mono-White Control was a big deal in Standard, at times being the best deck in the format.
It's not hard to see why, as combining the powerful top end control cards like The Wandering Emperor, Farewell, and Sunfall alongside the very Plains-centric cards like the phenomenal Lay Down Arms and The Restoration of Eiganjo // Architect of Restoration made for an excellent midrange/control deck that could control the board well but also lay down board control threat after board control threat.
However, the evolution of the format as well as the dominance of Atraxa, Grand Unifier and other elements saw this deck fall out of favor.
Doorkeeper Thrull does all sorts of annoying things in Standard, stopping things all the way from Novice Inspector to Atraxa herself. It's not often a hate card is good against both the most aggressive deck in the format as well as the biggest deck in the format, but here we are. Kutzil's Flanker is huge against all of the land-graveyard decks that have been popping up around Aftermath Analyist, and Elesh Norn, Mother of Machines is also insane in those matchups thanks to turning off the New Capenna sacrifice lands.
Is this what it takes to bring Mono-White back?
