Meddling In The Affairs Of Historic Dragon Reanimator

Reddit

Dragon.

There's just something majestic and alluring about perhaps one of the most iconic fantasy tropes of all time, and it's no different in Magic: The Gathering. From Shivan Dragon to Velomachus Lorehold, killing your opponent with dragons has never gotten old.

Velomachus Lorehold

Speaking of Velomachus Lorehold, the new Strixhaven elder dragon headlines a new Historic brew that uses a metric ton of cards from the new set, both from the Mystical Archives as well as Strixhaven proper.

Presenting Dragon Reanimator!

Time Stamps:

05:47 - Match 1

17:02 - Match 2

24:12 - Match 3

36:52 - Match 4

37:24 - Match 5

41:27 - Match 6

54:00 - Match 7

Strixhaven is front and center here!

Faithless Looting
Inquisition of Kozilek
Lightning Helix

The Mystical Archive cards give this deck a bevy of powerful and cheap early plays, forming a great disruptive base as well as setting up all of your graveyard stuff for super cheap. Faithless Looting and Inquisition of Kozilek are two of the best of the bunch and Lightning Helix isn't far behind. We even get to Crux of Fate!

Thrilling Discovery
Vanishing Verse
Velomachus Lorehold

But that's not all! Thrilling Discovery joins Faithless Looting to help get those cards in the graveyard with upside, while Vanishing Verse joins Lightning Helix as a great new removal spell. And of course, the key card in the deck is Velomachus Lorehold, which kills fast and casts a new spell each turn.

Unburial Rites
Unbreakable Bond
Darigaaz Reincarnated

Unburial Rites sends Velomachus Lorehold into the red zone as early as turn four, which has Darigaaz Reincarnated not far behind. With the early game plan of firing off key disruption and putting your opponent off balance, a quick dragon on turn four or five will turn the corner very quickly. Velomachus Lorehold's haste makes the card, allowing you to potentially reanimate a second creature as soon as you attack.

Sarkhan, Fireblood
Young Pyromancer
Legion Warboss

And the good news is that you can dodge the graveyard hate and just become a Mardu Midrange deck after board! Sarkahn, Fireblood is a discard outlet that can also just cast your dragons, while extra threats like Young Pyromancer and Legion Warboss play excellently with all the discard spells the deck has to offer.

This deck is explosive and exciting, while also playing a ton of good cards; go forth and dragon my friends!
