Affinity is an absolutely classic archetype in Magic.
Just seeing a Frogmite evokes many memories for any old-school Magic player, whether it was Mirrodin Block Constructed, Standard, Extended, or even early Modern Affinity. It's a powerful mechanic that saw the original artifact lands banned in multiple formats, and frankly there's just something very satisfying about laying your whole hand on the table on turn one.
That's why it's so awesome that it's back in Modern with some new toys!

Not too bad!
Now much of what brought Affinity back to the Modern format was Modern Horizons 2. Actual artifact lands like Razortide Bridge being legal again was huge, Thought Monitor brought a perfect combination of threat and card draw spell, and of course it's the deck that perhaps best uses Urza's Saga.
However, it's an odd old vehicle and a new enchantment saga that jump off the page here.
Consulate Dreadnought acts sort of like a cheap mana rock early for all your affinity cards, while also giving your creatures a sort of pseudo-haste as it can rumble into the red zone as early as turn two. It also plays super well with Cranial Plating, allowing you to equip, crew, and then move the plating to an untapped attacker. Michiko's Reign of Truth // Portrait of Michiko acts like Cranial Plating 5-8, being a little less flexible but offering both a toughness boost as well as an actual threat after two turns. Having it be an enchantment rather than an artifact helps against some hate cards, and don't forget to count Urza's Saga as an enchantment!
As you saw in the league, this deck is very explosive, but also has the ability to go later into games with the equipment, card draw, and Urza's Saga. Affinity is back!
