The Best Budget Cards from Foundations

Reddit

Hello, everyone! I'm Levi from The Thought Vessel. Today, we're looking at some budget bombs to add to your deck from Foundations. To qualify as a budget bomb, the card must be a first-time print in Foundations. Cards that became cheaper due to a reprint, like Genesis Wave, do not count. The price limit is under $1.00 here on CoolStuffInc. These cards are not ranked in any particular order today - we're simply celebrating some great cards at great prices.

1) Grappling Kraken

Grappling Kraken

In a deck like Aesi or another Simic landfall build, this card can do a ton of work. It's a great way to lock down blockers, troublesome creatures with abilities, or potential attackers. For just $0.26, this card is bound to overperform.

2) Homunculus Horde

Homunculus Horde

We have seen doublers like this in the past like Scute Swarm and they have always been popular. With the new trend of drawing your 2nd card per turn being a new trigger, if you play your cards right, you could be looking at sixteen 2/2 creatures after only one rotation. For $0.99, this card is an auto include in decks that are wanting to draw a lot of cards.

3) Goblin Negotiation

Goblin Negotiation

Typal-based removal is always nice to see - in this case, it's for goblins. Dealing damage to a single creature might not be strong enough on its own, but adding a bonus horde of goblins makes this an interesting card to consider. Goblin Negotiation is available for just $0.29.

4) Extravagant Replication

Extravagant Replication

I'll admit, it's a bit of a "do-nothing" card when it first hits the battlefield, but if it survives a rotation or two, the ability to copy a nonland permanent - not just a creature - is amazing. Imagine duplicating enchantments like Warleader's Call in an aggro deck or even something stronger like Rhystic Study. The longer this card sticks around, the sillier it gets. Best of all, it's only $0.99.

5) Electroduplicate

Electroduplicate

Three mana for a one-time copy of one of your creatures is decent, but Flashback makes this card even more appealing. This is a solid "vegetable" card to include in your deck. Personally, I've picked one up to try in my Gruul Dragon deck, but I can see this card being useful in many strategies since it can be used twice. At $0.85, it's definitely worth a shot.

6) Micromancer

Micromancer

We've got a new tutor wizard! Micromancer allows you to fetch any instant or sorcery with a mana value of 1 from your deck and put it into your hand. This could be something simple like Swords to Plowshares, Ponder, or even Final Showdown. Personally, I'd go for Ephemerate to blink the Micromancer and use it again for more value. For only $0.29, this is a flat-out steal.

7) Tinybones, Bauble Burglar

Tinybones, Bauble Burglar

This might be our first beneficiary of having fancier versions of the card driving down its price. Tinybones is just $0.59! Every time your opponents discard a card, you can steal it and cast it later. If that wasn't crazy enough, Tinybones also lets you force the discard with an activated ability. I've said it before: this is the strongest of the Tinybones commanders to date. Whether in the 99 or as the face commander, it's sure to make an immediate impact.

8) Alesha, Who Laughs at Fate

Alesha, Who Laughs at Fate

Here's a new take on Alesha as a commander. While she lacks White mana this time, she makes up for it with high-power recursion. Growing with every attack, Alesha lets you bring back creatures with a mana value less than or equal to her power. In Rakdos colors, there are plenty of high-power recursion targets that probably shouldn't come back - but for $0.99, Alesha is going to be a staple in aggro decks that can run her.

9) Drake Hatcher

Drake Hatcher

This is one of my favorite cards from the set because of its fascinating design. Starting with prowess, you can pump up Drake Hatcher before dealing combat damage to maximize its incubation counters. For each counter, you can trade them in for a 2/2 flying Drake at instant speed to protect them from removal. With a mana value of two and a price tag of $0.99, this is a great early-game threat for spellslinger decks.

10) Preposterous Proportions

Preposterous Proportions

And of course, we'll finish with a finisher. For my friends who find Craterhoof Behemoth too boring, I present Preposterous Proportions - a seven-mana sorcery that gives all your creatures +10/+10. And if the card wasn't awesome enough already, the art features Godzilla-sized squirrels terrorizing a village. For $0.99, this is a fantastic finisher for decks with creatures that already have trample or evasion.

And there you have it! These are 10 budget bombs from Foundations. If you like any of these cards, give them a try! And if you're looking for a place to pick them up, there's no better option than CoolStuffInc. Until next time, happy gaming!
