Hello everyone. While the Magic Story for Bloomburrow has made me excited for this new set, it is still a few weeks away. Luckily, there are still exciting decks that I can share with you until these new cards arrive. Let's get started.
Boros Equipment
Let's get started by taking a look at a deck in my favorite two-color combination that features an Equipment sub-theme.
Boros Equipment | OTJ Standard | JayVillain, aetherhub.com user

Sword of Wealth and Power is amazingly powerful in this deck. When it is equipped, it protects one of your creatures from being targeted by instant and sorcery spells. That creature also gains a +2/+2 bonus, plus the ability to create a Treasure token when the equipped creature deals combat damage to a player. Then, you can then use those Treasure tokens to cast an instant and sorcery spell, which will get copied by Sword of Wealth and Power, giving you a lot of value.
To make sure you can find the single copy of Sword of Wealth and Power from your deck, you can use the adventure found on Kellan, the Fae-Blooded, Birthright Boon, which allows you to search your library for an equipment to put into your hand. You might also be able to use Nahiri, Forged in Fury's ability to find the sword, or any other equipment for that matter, and cast it without paying its mana cost. Any time you can get something for free, you should, as this will certainly give you an advantage over your opponent.
Orzhov Superfriends
Next, I have a control deck for you that utilizes the loyalty abilities of numerous planeswalkers to maintain an advantage. Let's take a look at the deck.
Orzhov Superfriends | OTJ Standard | Sonio, aetherhub.com user

- 3 Restless Fortress
- 4 Caves of Koilos
- 4 Shattered Sanctum
- Sideboard (4)
- 1 Get Lost
- 1 Sunfall
- 1 Sunset Revelry
- 1 Invasion of Tolvada
As I mentioned before the decklist, this is a control deck at heart. You'll generally want to try to keep the battlefield clear of threats using spells like Go for the Throat, Get Lost, and Pest Control in the early stages of the game. Once you reach turn four or so, you're in the middle stages of the game and can begin dropping your planeswalker threats.
Both Black and White have some of the best planeswalkers currently in Standard. Both The Wandering Emperor and Sorin the Mirthless will be rotating from Standard in a few weeks, so take advantage of their power while you can. All of the other planeswalkers will remain in Standard, and one of my favorites is Kaya, Intangible Slayer. Starting with 6 loyalty makes her difficult to remove from the battlefield, and by using her +2 loyalty ability turn after turn, you can
win the game without ever attacking.
Rakdos Midrange
The next deck I have for you uses the abilities of a demon planeswalker along with a bunch of crimes to swing the game in our favor. Let's check out the deck.
Rakdos Midrange | OTJ Standard | MtgMalone, aetherhub.com user
- Creatures (15)
- 3 Deep-Cavern Bat
- 3 Hostile Investigator
- 3 Magda, the Hoardmaster
- 3 Tinybones, the Pickpocket
- 3 Vadmir, New Blood
- Planeswalkers (3)
- 3 Ob Nixilis, the Adversary
- Instants (11)
- 2 Big Score
- 3 Bitter Triumph
- 3 Lightning Strike
- 3 March of Wretched Sorrow
- Sorceries (3)
- 3 Gix's Command
- Enchantments (6)
- 3 Tinybones Joins Up
- 3 Virtue of Persistence
- Lands (22)
- 4 Mountain
- 9 Swamp
- 1 Raucous Theater
- 2 Jagged Barrens
- 2 Restless Vents
- 4 Haunted Ridge
Obviously, Ob Nixilis, the Adversary is the demonic planeswalker I referred to before the decklist. With his casualty ability, you can create a copy of Ob Nixilis when he enters the battlefield. Dealing with two copies of him can be extremely annoying, to say the lease. By using his +1 loyalty ability, you'll either run your opponent out of cards or gain a ton of life, or, quite possibly, both. By reducing the number of cards in their hand, you reduce the possibility of your opponent mounting a comeback against you.
In addition to Ob Nixilis, this deck has a powerful creature that only gets worse to play against as the game goes on. Vadmir, New Blood will gain a +1/+1 counter once per turn, as long as you commit a crime during that turn. Once he has four of these +1/+1 counters, he also gains menace and lifelink. As long as you manage to keep him protected, he can win games for you single handedly.
Naya Dinosaur Ramp
The final deck I have for you this week features a bunch of dinosaurs along with ways to help you cast them more easily. Let's take a look at the deck.
Naya Dinosaur Ramp | OTJ Standard | ManaMan, aetherhub.com user
- Creatures (21)
- 1 Ghalta and Mavren
- 1 Gishath, Sun's Avatar
- 1 Vaultborn Tyrant
- 2 Topiary Stomper
- 2 Tranquil Frillback
- 2 Tyrranax Rex
- 4 Blossoming Tortoise
- 4 Hulking Raptor
- 4 Intrepid Paleontologist
- Instants (4)
- 2 Get Lost
- 2 Soul Partition
- Enchantments (7)
- 3 Temporary Lockdown
- 4 High Noon
- Artifacts (1)
- 1 The Celestus
Big dinosaurs run rampant in this deck. Ghalta and Mavren, Gishath, Sun's Avatar, and Vaultborn Tyrant are not only super powerful and game-impacting, but they are also very expensive to cast. Luckily, this deck employs a few different ways to help get these behemoths onto the battlefield more easily. Hulking Raptor and Intrepid Paleontologist both provide you with extra mana you can use, while Topiary Stomper provides you with extra lands.
Since you're likely going to be spending all of your mana to bring out the biggest dinosaur you can, you'll want to slow down your opponent by casting High Noon. While this enchantment is on the battlefield, each player is limited to only casting one spell at most per turn. This will likely affect your opponent more negatively than it does you. High Noon can also be sacrificed to deal 5 damage to any target, giving you a quick way to win the game if you happen to fall a little short on damage while attacking.
Wrapping Up
As we get closer to the release of Bloomburrow, we're also getting closer to Standard rotation. Enjoy the decks I've brought you over the next few weeks, as they'll soon be no longer legal. And come back next week as I start my search for decks that you can play that are safe from rotation.
What do you think of these decks? Feel free to share this article with your friends anywhere on social media. And be sure to join me here again next week as I continue my search for innovative decks in Standard. I'll see you then!
