This Week In Lorcana: October 4th

Reddit

Greetings, Illumineers! It's officially October, which means we have another busy month of Lorcana. Whether you're interested in details about the upcoming Disney Lorcana Challenge in Seattle, Set Championships for Mirabel, or the latest previews of Azurite Seas, you're at the right place. Let's hop right into it!

Disney Lorcana Challenge: Seattle Details

DLC: Seattle is upon us! Hopefully by now you've secured access with a competitor or attendee badge. If not, make sure you're on the waitlist as tickets are periodically returned and refunded by other people. I will be attending as a competitor and looking forward to catching up with everyone I've met so far through previous DLCs.

Thankfully Seattle will also have side events on Friday, similar to Las Vegas. This gives you an opportunity to practice and hone in on your final deck for the main event, or enjoy some more casual events, such as pack rush, draft, or sealed Constructed. Otherwise, you can expect early check-in and badge pickup on Friday the 25th between the hours of 10:00 AM and 7:00 PM, For late check-in, you'll have until 8:00 AM on the 26th before you're dropped. The player meeting starts at 9:00 AM. I hope to see you there!

Shimmering Skies Set Championships Kicks Off This Weekend

We're coming up on our first weekend of the Shimmering Skies Set Championships, and I couldn't be any more excited for it. We're looking at an expanded top cut prizing of 8 enchanted Mirabel Madrigal - Family Gatherer and the top 2 players receiving mats reflecting the artwork from the card.

However, there can only be one champion who will receive the playmat that has the title champion on it.

I feel like the results from the recent DLC: Vegas really opened up the meta for quite a lot of possibilities when considering what deck choice to go into this weekend. You can definitely expect to see the usual Ruby/Sapphire, Amber/Steel, and Ruby/Amethyst, but also consider some other well performing decks, such as Emerald/Amethyst, Emerald/Steel, and and Amber/Emerald. What I'm trying to say is, if you're not locked in on a choice, you have options, and that feels a lot better than going into a set championship where there were fewer choices to go with due to the differences in power level between the tier 1 and tier 2 decks. Good luck out there, and I hope you do well in the first weekend!

Azurite Seas Most Recent Previews

We're pretty light on previews this week, with only 3 cards revealed.

Ultra PRO x Ravensburger Product Partnership

Ultra Pro is set to produce two new products for Illumineers this holiday season; A premium deck box that also can be used to track lore, and a Premium Card Portfolio, holding up to 252 individual cards. Those heading to Essen Spiel get an exclusive opportunity to pick up these products before they officially release on November 15th in hobby stores. Lucky them!

Conclusion

We're starting off October strong with a lot in the world of Lorcana, and I am all for it. Having the set championships run somewhat concurrently with the last DLC event gives you enough of a field test and practice before locking in your deck choice for Seattle. If you're not going to Seattle, the set championships are another great event to enjoy with other Illumineers in competing for this set's unique prizing. Otherwise, you can patiently try to wait for the release of Azurite Seas, launching in hobby stores November 15th and big box retail on November 25th.

There you have it, another week, another Locana update. Are you prepared for set championships this month? How about DLC: Seattle? Are you ready for new cards? Let me know on X: EmeraldWeapon. That's all for this week. Catch you next time for the next This Week in Lorcana!
