This Week In Lorcana: Monday, October 14th

Reddit

Hey Illumineers! It's time for your weekly dose of Lorcana news! This week, we've got a jam-packed update with all the latest happenings. We'll recap the exciting tournament action from Miami TCG Convention, share some cool highlights from the Shimmering Skies championships, give you the lowdown on how to prep for the Seattle Challenge, and even reveal some awesome new cards from Azurite Seas. Let's get to it!

Miami TCG Convention 2024

A vibrant community of collectors, artists, and players converged at the Miami Airport Convention Center this weekend for the Miami TCG Convention! Among the highlights was a Lorcana tournament where creativity and strategy collided. Each of the top two finishers received an exclusive playmat signed by the talented artists behind Lorcana, but the grand prize winner's mat was truly special, adorned with unique illustrations. The tournament saw 28 passionate players showcase their skills, with the innovative "Blurple" Amethyst/Sapphire deck claiming victory in a thrilling finale against Ruby/Amethyst. Mikey "Hazed" from team Freedom Gaming brought the following list:

We look forward to the Miami TCG Convention next year for hosting yet another great Lorcana tournament!

Shimmering Skies Set Championships Observations

As we dive into the second weekend of Lorcana Set Championships, the competitive landscape is evolving. It seems the allure of this season's promo card isn't quite as strong as the first, leading to smaller turnouts. But here's the twist: this might actually be a good thing! While we might miss the electric atmosphere of the initial Stitch Championship, this shift allows local players to shine. With the biggest battles heating up at the Disney Lorcana Championships (DLCs), these Set Championships offer a more accessible path to victory and the Enchanted Mirabel promos.

Disney Lorcana Challenge: Seattle Preparations

Seattle here we come! It's hard to believe the final DLC is just around the corner. For those chasing a continental invite or a Golden Mickey, this is the last chance to make it happen. Use these next few weeks and the Set Championships to really nail down your deck. We don't expect any big surprises from Azurite Seas before Seattle, so focus on mastering the current meta. It's still anyone's game! See you there!

Azurite Seas Reveals

Here are the official reveals from Ravensburger for Azurite Seas this week:

Jasmine - Royal Seafarer gives Emerald additional utility with options given your current situation. I can see a scenario where this card would be played multiple times for the Reckless effect, slowing down any aggro decks from outpacing you in lore.

Chip - Friend Indeed lends Amber with the ability to grant lore to other characters when played. This helps with aggro strategies looking to close the game out before control-based decks turn the tide.

Dale - Friend in Need has great flavor with Chip and provides options when deciding what order to play them in. Four willpower is higher than average, which allows for a bit more staying power for such a high quester.

The last card shared here is a new Sapphire location, looking to lend additional ramping power by a location, a first for Lorcana. Having a high willpower and no lore gain means this location will most likely stick around for a while, forcing the opponent to deal with the characters there over the location itself.

Conclusion

Another week of Lorcana in the books! What have been some of your favorite reveals so far this set? Have you secured your Mirabel and mat yet? Are you going to Seattle? Let me know: X/Twitter.
