Hey Illumineers! We're at the end of the week, and you know what that means... Another weekly update on what's happening with Disney Lorcana. Today, we'll focus on some last minute Disney Lorcana Challenge: Seattle as side events start October 25th. We'll also take a look at some of the top performing decks over the 2nd weekend of Set Championships. Lastly, we'll review some of the latest reveals from Azurite Seas. With that being said, let's go ahead and jump right in!
Last-minute Preparations for Disney Lorcana Challenge: Seattle
It's hard to believe that we're already at our last DLC for the year. Given that, it looks like it's going to be a huge push before we're heading into the last chance qualifiers at the Continental event in Anaheim, California. Here are some tips to "Be Prepared" for the event next week:
Play-test, play-test, play-test!
With the Shimmering Skies set championships live right now, now is the absolute best time for last minute play-testing with your local testing group or scene. By now, you should have narrowed it down to which deck(s) you plan on bringing, so you want to make absolutely sure they're tuned for the event.
Supplies
Be sure to bring sleeves, note paper for keeping score, and dice for keeping track of things like damage. I was a fan of tracking score on electronic notepads, but given a very specific situation that happened in the last DLC, where each player mentioned they won Game 1 of their match, it helps keep track of the entire match for the correct judge call.
Stay hydrated and well-fed, and well-rested.
Day one consists of 9 rounds of swiss, which can be absolutely draining on your brain and body. Make sure to stay hydrated and carry nutritional snacks to endure the gauntlet. If your nerves aren't getting to you, make sure you sleep well the night prior. You want to be the absolute best version of yourself once round one starts.
Top Performing Decks of the Week
We have an abundance of reports due to set championships going on. These decks can help guide you into what's working and lock in your deck selection for Seattle or the rest of the Mirabel set championships.

Emerald/Steel discard continues to grow meta share and run rampant not only at the DLC in Vegas, but locals as well it seems. While not as oppressive as the version running Bucky - Squirrel Squeak Tutor, this one utilizes The Muses to help bounce characters on both sides of the board. If you plan on piloting this deck, make sure to fully understand how the bag system works within Lorcana when dealing with triggers.
Ruby-Sapphire Ramp | Eric Chevrefils - 1st place
- Characters (32)
- 1 Mufasa - Ruler of Pride Rock
- 1 Scar - Viscous Cheater
- 2 Madame Medusa - The Boss

- Items (15)
- 1 Fang Crossbow
- 1 Great Stone Dragon
- 1 Vitalisphere
- 2 Lucky Dime
- 3 Fishbone Quill
- 3 Ice Block
- 4 Pawpsicle
A popular pick for this meta, Ruby Sapphire continues to make an impact and has earned its spot as a top-tier deck on this set. With a lot more consistent ramp this time around, these two ink pairings remain a force to be reckoned with. Adding in a little spice with Fang Crossbow to deal with Dragons and Great Stone Dragon to help provide a consistent ramp from the discard pile, this list has done a great job adapting to the threats from the rise in popularity of Emerald Steel.
Ruby-Amethyst | Kendall Burdette - 1st place
- Characters (43)
- 1 Merlin - Crab
- 2 Elsa - The Fifth Spirit
- 2 Lady Tremaine - Imperious Queen
- 3 Madame Medusa - The Boss
- 3 Magic Broom - Illuminary Keeper
- 4 Chernabog's Followers - Creatures of Evil
- 4 Flynn Rider - Frenemy
- 4 Madam Mim - Fox
- 4 Madam Mim - Snake
- 4 Maui - Hero to All
- 4 Merlin - Goat
- 4 Merlin - Rabbit
- 4 Sisu - Emboldened Warrior
- Songs (8)
- 4 Be Prepared
- 4 Friends on The Other Side
- Actions (4)
- 4 Brawl
- Locations (5)
- 1 The Library - A Gift for Belle
- 4 The Queen's Castle - Mirror Chamber
Kendall secured another 1st place with the tried and tested Ruby-Amethyst deck. This deck remains fairly adaptable for any meta and popular pilots continue to tune the deck to make the right changes heading into DLC Seattle. Given the increase of Ward characters in the Emerald-Steel discard deck, we're seeing the return of Lady Tremaine to get around this. There's nothing wrong with a consistent deck that continues to put great numbers up, and Ruby-Amethyst isn't any different in set 5.
