Grand Prix Barcelona was bound to be a star studded event with the Pro Tour taking place next week in Madrid. Many of Magic's best came to try their hand at Shadows over Innistrad limited and the Top 8 included luminaries like Reid Duke, Shaun McLaren, Brian Braun-Duin, and William Jensen.
It also included Fabrizio Anteri in his tenth Grand Prix Top 8. In his previous nine Sunday appearances Anteri accumulated four victories. Today in Barcelona he made it five tries out of ten. Piloting an aggressive red-white deck, Anteri was able to lock up Platinum status and add another trophy to his mantle.
Congratulations to Fabrizio Anteri - your Grand Prix Barcelona Champion!

Grand Prix Barcelona was not totally without controversy. A software issue caused Round 14 to not factor into the initial Top 8 standings. Wizards allowed to event to proceed rather than delay to fix the issue. According to a statement from Helene Bergeot, Director of Organized Play, the player in 8th place should have finished ninth and Jonas Friberg was bumped from his rightful spot in the Top 8.
Acknowledging the error, Wizards has awarded Friberg $2,500 and and invitation (with airfare) to the Pro Tour in Honolulu. His finish already qualified him for Pro Tour Eldritch Moon in Sydney, Australia.
