Yesterday Wizards of the Coast announced a partnership with the game streaming platform Twitch. The deal will grant Twitch exclusive rights to broadcast all premier play events that do not take place in China or Japan. Previously the Pro Tour, World Championship, and World Magic Cup were simulcast on YouTube.
The partnership will allow for additional sponsorship for the official Magic stream (already seen in today's broadcast of the World Magic Cup) and the hope that this will raise the profile for Premier Play events. Coupled with the start of the Pro Tour Team Series it appears that Professional Magic will be taking a giant step into the realm of e-sports.
