Welcome back! I hope everyone has had a good week so far. Today, I'm playing a deck that Gabriel Nassif has been playing in Historic. He has been climbing the ladder with a Approach of the Second Sun deck. I decided to take that deck and add Red to it as I wanted to cast Blood Sun and play Lotus Field. It turned out to be great, honestly.
Let us go ahead and look at the decklist!

It has been a while since I played a true control deck and this deck felt like that. It was nice to have a hard and fast win condition in Approach of the Second Sun. Authority of the Consuls was great against aggressive/combo strategies like Goblins. It was also exceptionally good against Cat Oven decks, turning the drain off and you gaining life if you have multiple. I was not so sure on Thirst for Meaning but after a handful of games, I am more sold on it. The deck overall was enormously powerful, but the games could take a minute. If you enjoy control/combo decks, that I would highly recommend this one. This is a deck you could take to Mythic on MTG Arena.
Until next time!
