Since the meta has been so greedy I decided to revisit a super old deck of mine: The Wanderer + Command the Dreadhorde. With The Wanderer out you can Command the Dreadhorde for everything and not take damage because of the Wanderer's static ability. Even if we do not have The Wanderer on the Battlefield, we have ways to gain life through Oath of Kaya, Kaya, Orzhov Usurper, Interplanar Beacon, Ajani, the Greathearted, and, to a way lesser extent, Vraska, Golgari Queen. Let's have a look!
Time Stamps:
00:02:26 - Match 1
00:23:16 - Match 2
00:46:46 - Match 3
01:16:07 - Match 4
01:23:37 - Match 5

Because of the trilands and Interplanar Beacon we can play three or four colors easily. The Red is literally just a tiny splash for Nicol Bolas, Dragon-God because I just love that card and splashing it is not too difficult with Beacons. This deck is still a work in progress as I built it and played two matches with it before today, but it shows real promise as you can see in the video. Teyo can easily be cut from the deck and it might be better with Fires of Invention, but I wanted to play it without Fires first. We do have a couple of games where we run out of gas and Fires of Invention would have been a dead draw. Still, I need to test Fires of Invention to see how it really holds up here. It could easily setup some major big turns with Keruga. I would just have to tinker with the mana base. That being said, the deck played really well, especially for its first run!
Until next time!
